Numerous giant windmills constructed and all connected by a huge power grid. It is truly amazing that this didn''t impact the environment.

I KNOW what you mean - it''s DANGEROUS out there with all those REFLECTIVE windows in those CORPORATE TOWERS the Multi-National Corporations have!

Sheesh!

Even my LITTLE house KILLED a few birds when they "mistakenly" flew INTO my windows!

Fortunately, our Three-legged CAT was there to clean up the MESS but I wound up with AT LEAST 2 broken panes because those birds you''re talking to JUST WON''T listen to reason!

Anyhow, MY VEHICLE has KILLED a few critters too.
I try to AVOID MIGRATING TURTLES but they LOVE that WARM pavement almost as much as the "partners" they''re looking for. Hitting one of those can cause blown tires and wrecks.

Then DON''T get me started on DEER!!!
One of THOSE suicidal nookie chasing things KILLED a relative of mine when it THOUGHTLESSLY jumped INTO her car late one night right before Christmas.

But, then again, YOU''RE ONLY CONCERNED about those BLIND BIRDS right?

So you want NO tax breaks for renewables?

OK - as long as FAIR IS FAIR.

GET RID of ALL the gas and oil tax breaks TOO.

STARTING with that NEARLY 88 PERCENT PROPERTY TAX BREAK mentioned in the article. Colorado alone would GAIN an additional 320 MILLION DOLLARS for OTHER uses rather than OVERPAYING CORPORATE oil and gas CEOS on the Taxpayer''s dime.

Then I''m SURE there''s a "DEPLETION" tax break write off that those companies are taking that can be DISALLOWED as well as MANY MORE "breaks" written in throughout our Federal KICKBACK to ENTRENCHED CORPORATE DONORS system. ENRON seems to have proven that.

Let''s see how PROFITABLE those SELF-INDULGENT, INNOVATION LAZY oil and gas PROFITEERS are when they HAVE TO PAY for ALL the environmental DAMAGE they do WITHOUT MAKING THE TAXPAYERS foot the bill FOR THEIR MESS.

I for one am TIRED of PAYING for the COSTLY DAMAGE created by politically ENTRENCHED PROFITEERS that DEMAND a FREE RIDE on property tax, destruction of land sea and air as well as NOT even paying for PROFITS because they use LOOPHOLES NOBODY ELSE CAN and/or CONVENIENTLY MOVED their headquarters TO the TERRORIST BREEDING MIDDLE EAST.

Way to go Colorado, Oh for more of you who will stand up and tell these money guzzlers just where to go. Americans are tired of it and the cover up for these guys has to stop. Thank you for all of you who went against the status quo

Well the skipped over that little tax subsidy request that Xcel says they MUST have; ""It''s absolutely essential that the state offer us something that makes it worth our while to be green." "
Well guess where "the State" is going to get that bribe money from? Why of course it is going to steal it from other people who already are doing things without all that renewable green energy. You figure out what corporate profist tax rates are and what typical corporate profit margins are (4% after taxes), and you find those windmills are supported by a hell of a lot of fossil fuels industry that is already providing the state with tax revenues, instead of demanding a tax handout.

ANY proposed "renewable Green" energy source should be required to pay its own way; that''s the only way you can tell whether they are an energy supplier, or an energy wasting scheme, and subsidized wind farms are an energy consuming boondoggle. Why else would Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California invest so heavily in T-Boone Pickens "windoggle" before she put the brakes on further oil exploration and drilling. Can you say conflict of interest !

It just goes to show we should stop asking the fox for advice on guarding the henhouse. The fox has a vested interest.

We keep hearing the same things about alternative sources of energy form the oil compamnies and yet the colorado model did it 8 years sooner, produced new jobs and will increase the amount of power they will get from wind by 2020. Good job colorado

"oil and gas companies here are on the defensive. They are spending heavily as they try to prevent the repeal of as much as $300 million in annual tax breaks"

Say WHAT?!?!?

Well, good for them! But don''t forget to drill! Our infrastructure still runs on gas...and it''ll be years before enough windturbines can take over.

Good START, though!
