"Sad to think that this is what our election system has deteriorated to, isn''''t it??"

The campaign between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson is widely accepted as containing some of the most bitter and personal attacks in presidential history: that was the 3rd election.

I do wish there was a little more of the pre-60''s decorum. I don''t think that is going to happen, but certainly pointing fingers isn''t going to lift anyone above the fray.

Unless the people denounce all parties that use negative, personal attacks, then they are just contributing to the partisan noise-making.

Otherwise, a brief look at history will show that this is nothing new.

Speak softly and carry a big stick- always worked in the past, to win any fight.
