I did look it up and found that, under Romer, the Academic Performance Index results for 2005 show a small gain.

So, Romer was there for five years. What about the time before he got there and, especially, the time since? California education, including LA, still ranks well below WV, in fact, it''''s near the bottom five. And it has nothing to do with Romer.

We can argue all we want here but there''s no denying that the republican voters are the majority in this country and add to that all the disgruntled Hillary voters and you have a complete victory for McCain (who doesn''t even seem to really want the highest office from the looks of his campaign rhetoric). If you really believe that the latte liberals and the black population and the college kids can elect a president you are sadly misinformed. Just take a look at previous electoral maps and see how completely the states go red. It''s the "silent majority" which elects our presidents, the steadfast republicans who come out in greater numbers each year --- and this year they will be joined by at least half of the disappointed white women who wanted to see the first woman in history elected to the presidency and these women are very determined to make a statement because of the way their candidate has been treated. If Obama offers the VP spot to Hillary and she accepts --- there is still a chance to send McCain home. Otherwise the electoral map goes red and Obama goes home. If you''re voting to end the war --- don''t get your hopes up. Obama is making promises he cannot keep --- lots of them.

You make it sound as if Obama was the ONLY senator who voted against English as the official language. A total of 38 senators voted against it, including Clinton of NY and Dominici (R) of NM.

Besides, last-miute changes by a REPUBLICAN from Oklahoma watered-down the effectiveness of the bill. Inhofe''s changes prevented changing any existing language laws, making the effect of the English as a "national language" bill quite unclear. A waste of time, in fact.

Do the math. 52% of the voters are women and Hellary still can''t beat Obama. Most of the "white" democratic political pundits agree on that. She''s already lost the race and all she can do is sit back and watch it go down the drain. ...water over the dam; spilled milk.

She did it to herself because she doesn''t know how to run a campaign. She "assumed" she was the winner, hands down, but people don''t really trust her. That was proven in the exit polls.
