Great economic day for America:

Oil down from $120 barrel to $112

Dollar surges against the euro to reach highest level since February

Stock market climbs above 13,000

Lower commodity prices across the board, sugar, wheat, corn............etc......

Great one day for US economy and all Americans ......except for Democrats and their pals in America''s mostly corrupt liberal MSM wolfpack press.

The 1/4 point rate reduction article will not take comments so I will post my comment on this page:

More dollar devaluation for the poor; more credit for the rich.

How the mighty have fallen. The leading Dem candidate now has to stand up and call BS on a blatant pandering tactic by the Republicans.

I have heard from a friend of mine who is a Roads Dept. engineer that the Federal Highway Trust Fund will be bankrupt by 2009. Is this true? Does the federal gas tax support this fund? Can any experts out there answer? If these are true statements then Clinton and McCain are irresponsible in suggesting suspending this tax. Does road-building mean jobs and money for YOUR state Indiana and North Carolina? Be sure to lube up before you vote for EITHER of those two.

"$4 gas, I haven''''t heard about that." GW

Just like his dad was amazed at the price of milk during a photo op while he was running for re-election and just like Hillary doesn''t seem to see the idiocy of using a Hague gas hog in a photo op about gas prices. Some people are just too far out of touch with reality.

Folks,
I just came back from Wal-Mart where I spent every penny of my Tax Rebate I got yesterday. Thank you China and Saudi Arabia for letting America borrow more.

The next GNP numbers are going to be impressive.

Normally, NeoCons do not accept any argument comes from another politician. Now, I see that NeoCons do not accept any argument from professionals on the subject matter. I already know NeoCons will not believe God when they see him.

I''m not for short-term solutions. What the hell is $30 going to do for me over the summer. It''s obvious that our government don''t and can''t control the price at the pump. That''s one of this country''s problems now, always thinking short-term. That only works in certain situations, but not this one. I do have an idea that may save consumers money and cut down on emissions considerably, but it would take a nationwide effort to do so and alot of adjusting in business and personal lives. I''ve been thinking about try to push this throgh the internet on certain blogs to see if it would gain momentum and I know i''m not the only one who has thought of it, but I haven''t heard it being mentioned anywhere. In fact some people are already doing for personal reasons, but it needs to be nationwide.

Libs just slay me. Insane lib environmentalists, in cahoots with democrats, have had a moratorium on oil exploration in this country for over 30 years. They have prevented drilling off the Pacific as well as the Atlantic.

They have prevented refineries from expanding to meet demand and they have stopped nuclear plant construction.

What''s the lib answer to all this? Blame Bush and the ''big oil'' companies. You f**king libs are pathetic. To quote a favorite marxist Rev of mine.......''your chickens have come home to roost.''

Typical irresponsible selfish Republican answer to everything, procrastinate and maybe the problem will just go away. Borrow today and maybe someone will magically pay it back for you tomorrow.

Your ability to clip coupons does not equate to an understanding of economics. $30 now with no real attempt or plan to chance energy policy speaks to pandering to get your vote, not leadership.

I agree. Also there''s the consideration of the fact that road repair depends on these taxes. her claim that she''ll push for a windfall profits tax to get the money is disingenuous at best since she knows it has no hope of happening. the idea that this will help anyone is a joke being played on the simpleminded to try to buy their votes. It just plain won''t work..

No but they are going to be putting off till tomorrow what they could and should be doing today. We need to change energy policy and develop ways to use less and get more out of what we do use not figure out short term fixes that only make things worse in teh long run.

Rowdy,

No you don''t understand economic! The amount of money per family is minimal and has other costs associated with it that will strap people even more!

If McCain & Clinton really want to help working people pay gor gas they can:1)Pay as they go for their spending proposals so that the government can afford a middle class tax cut, and, 2.) use the gas tax to actually fix the roads by releasing the funds to the states for road work. Right now the federal government is sequestering these funds to mask the full extent of their deficit spending(same as they do with our social security contributions). If they would actually do what the program calls for and release the funds to the states we could fix the roads. This would put people to work and improve congestion(and conserve gas by smoothing traffic).

We al know that the oil companies (the friends of Hill & John) will up the price by at least as much as tax is lowered and working people won''t see squat!

For the people who really are choosing each week between driving to work and feeding their kids or paying for medicine, it is illogical in the extreme to say that relief from the federal gas tax will lead them to drive more, with greater demand leading to higher prices. The whole point is that now they can drive to work and not scrimp on medicines. They''re not going to be taking extra vacations on $30.
