Washington Post: Experts Say Plan Supported By McCain, Clinton Would Bring Little Savings, Cause Other Problems
- The working middle class needs the gas tax cut. The elitist, like Obama, don''t need the tax cut. Just another case of Obama not being able to relate to the average American.

- The price today of gas in Saudi Arabia is 43 cents a gallon...and in Venezuela it''s 12 cents a gallon.

- Apparently people in Egypt are just realizing they can''t eat oil and they''re rioting for bread. Imagine that...all this money from oil and they have to depend on imports to feed their people. I suggest we start using this bargaining power to get our oil we need to grow the corn and wheat they need...scratch our backs and we scratch yours.
They are actually upset that so much of the corn we grow now is going toward fuel...odd turn of events...huh? Seems we might all have to agree on one thing...we''re all in this together. - Reply to this comment
- Gas tax break? Keep your 18 cents a gallon and rebuild our highways and bridges!

Study Finds No Cancer-Marijuana Connection
By Marc Kaufman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, May 26, 2006; Page A03
The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer.
The new findings "were against our expectations," said Donald Tashkin of the University of California at Los Angeles, a pulmonologist who has studied marijuana for 30 years.
"We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer, and that the association would be more positive with heavier use," he said. "What we found instead was no association at all, and even a suggestion of some protective effect."
Federal health and drug enforcement officials have widely used Tashkin''s previous work on marijuana to make the case that the drug is dangerous. Tashkin said that while he still believes marijuana is potentially harmful, its cancer-causing effects appear to be of less concern than previously thought.
Earlier work established that marijuana does contain cancer-causing chemicals as potentially harmful as those in tobacco, he said. However, marijuana also contains the chemical THC, which he said may kill aging cells and keep them from becoming cancerous.

- Hey cyberus,
Here is revision #2:
Step #1: Declare Federal Gas tax holiday temporary for just 3 months this Summer.
Step #2: Price of gas immediately goes down 18.4 cents
Step #3: Demand for gasoline goes up.
Step #4: Supply/Demand forces pushes gasoline price up 18.4 cents.
Step #5: In September, the Federal Gas Tax of 18.4 is reinstated.
Step $6: Price of gasoline goes up 18.4 plus 18.4=36.4 cents higher than before the Summer started.
Step #7: Oil companies get an additional 10% profit per gasoline while tax revenues fall even further putting the US deeper into the mercy of China and Saudi Arabia.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

- Economist are modern day soothsayers. Their understanding of money and the world''''s uses of currency is equivalent to what a pig knows about ice skating.
Anyone with the slightest bit common sense would knock the proposed Gas Tax Break. - Reply to this comment

- Both the neocon Fascist Nazi Republican "Bagdad John" McCain and his supposed rival, the Whimpo-crat "heroine of Bosnia" Hilliary Clinton, have both advocated eliminating the federal gas tax "temporarily" over the summer to help motorist tank up their vechiles with fuel. The supposed average savings to a motorist over the summer for this action has been rumored to be in the neighborhood of a staggering $28; not even enough to afford a family "night out" at MacDonald''s!
And , of course, the Great Emperor Bush II has come on board with this proposal, together with coming up with some of his own, such as building more oil refinieries and poking more holes in the ground to find "black gold"! It is even rumored that he is entertaining plans to invade Canada to obtain their supposed vast oil reserves there (though Great Britian might have something to say about that!).
Whatever silly plans are finally adopted, the citizens of the USSA should feel confident that once again their political system is at work, trying to seperate you from your money, force you to lose your home, and live with common USSA Army soldiers beneath bridges and in shelters!
SIG HEIL, BUSH!!!!

- "Yesterday, she added visuals to her pitch by joining a sheet-metal worker on his ride to work, stopping with him at a gas station to fill up the pickup truck he was driving as her motorcade''s SUVs idled nearby."
The very fact that she can''t see the idiocy of this image in a photo op about high gas prices shows that she''s completely out of touch and living outside of the real world. What''s her message here? Buy a gas hog and burn as much of the oil our troops are dying for in Iraq as possible so they won''t have died in vain? The raw stupidity of this photo op is amazing! - Reply to this comment
- ...I bet you rarely get to post stuff like that though.

- Hey melchg,
I am happy to hear those great 1 day news about our economy. I cannot believe my Tax Rebate of $600 which I spent last night at Wal-Mart accomplished all these impressive numbers today.
Hello China and Saudi Arabia, please we need to borrow more $$$ to get our sleepy economy stronger. - Reply to this comment
