Washington Post: GOP Candidate Developing Strategies, Tactics For General Election Showdown

He never served in the regular military.
He was with the Illinois militia and never saw combat. His unit was assigned burial duty. He buried some bodies.
He had no experience relevant to being Commander in Chief. - Reply to this comment
- Well, military success didn''''t hurt George Washington, Andy Jackson, Abe Lincoln, Grant, Woodrow Wilson, Eisenhower, or Truman,
It isn''''t everything, but coupled with experience in Washington makes for a successful president.
Posted by trapbreak at 03:51 PM : Apr 01, 2008
Lincoln and Wilson weren''t in the military. Military service is NOT a prerequisite for president, and because someone served in the military, does NOT make them qualified to be a politician. McCain is the perfect example of that - look at how long he was in office and compare it to how little he has accomplished in that time frame. - Reply to this comment

So you''''re equating military success with being a great president?
What does that say about AWOL George, and his 5 deferment buddy, Di`ck "I hate the American people" Cheney?
Posted by hungry1968
Oh, it will say just about the same thing you''d say about McCain. No difference. You people don''t know how to think. Facts elude you even if it''s shoved up your azz. You are blind, dumb and just play out of it. - Reply to this comment
- I didn"t understand the joke either, since we don"t have a Draft for this Iraq war. If we did, the anti-war protests we"d be having now would rival those of the 60s.
Posted by Iceman_1960 at 02:47 PM : Apr 01, 2008
Absolutely. Nothing stops a war faster then the prospect that some rich kids might get drafted and have to die in Iraq. Their parents would be blanketing the Congress and the White House demanding a pull out. - Reply to this comment
- So a "policy advisor" (aka a BS artist), trumps the opinion of the majority of the world''''s scientific community?
WOW!!! You''''ll buy anything that disputes what a dem or a lib says - whether it''''s true or not!!

Yeah and a majority of scientists that disputed Bore''s theory were branded by the lefties as paid off by Bush. You people never tire of reversing your positions. - Reply to this comment
- I think that the "old guard" of both the GOP and the Dems are out of touch with the common man. This is why the pols are so screwed up. No one likes what Washington has done the last 7 years, except the cowboys.

- However, Lord Christopher Monckton, a policy advisor for former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher during the 1980s, says the former vice president can enjoy his "flat earth fantasies" for a few months, but in the end, the world will be laughing at him.
"The alarmists are alarmed, the panic mongers are panicking, the scare mongers are scared; the Gores are gored. Why? Because global warming stopped ten years ago; it hasn''''t got warmer since 1998," he points out. "And in fact in the last seven years, there has been a downturn in global temperatures equivalent on average to about [or] very close to one degree Fahrenheit per decade. We''''re actually in a period ... of global cooling."
Hahahaha.

- Stocks up 364.60. The Surge is Working.
Posted by mudrose at 02:53 PM : Apr 01, 2008
What do stocks have to do with the surge?
By the way, the stock market was up much higher than this two weeks ago. It is fluctuating very wildly up and down.
I wouldn''t praise the market until it stabilizes in November when a democrat wins the presidential election. - Reply to this comment

- Hey, more good news.
On Sunday, CBS News correspondent Leslie Stahl asked Al Gore on the television show 60 Minutes what he thinks of people like Vice President *** Cheney who doubt that global warming is caused by human activity.
"I think that those people are in such a tiny, tiny minority now with their point of view, they''re almost like the ones who still believe that the moon landing was staged in a movie lot in Arizona, and those who believe the earth is flat," replied Gore. "That demeans them a little bit, but it''s not that far off."
However, Lord Christopher Monckton, a policy advisor for former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher during the 1980s, says the former vice president can enjoy his "flat earth fantasies" for a few months, but in the end, the world will be laughing at him.

- Maybe Kerry was having a flashback. They say Vietnam vets sometimes have those.
He claims it was a reference to Bush, but that doesn"t make any sense either.

Especially those Vets that got shot in the Azz after being there for six months. They really have flashbacks so severe they shoot themselves in the arm to be sure they never go back. - Reply to this comment

- For those readers confused about the Japanese Paratroopers references...
Long ago, in a galaxy far away, mudrose claimed that U.S. and Japanese forces came to an agreement not to shoot each others" paratroopers as they were descending through the sky and helpless.
Iceman_1960 ridiculed that claim, and said that paratroopers were not used by either side in the Pacific theatre, as they were in Europe, and that in any event the Japanese were so ruthless, to their own troops as well as to the Allies, that they would never have made an ageement like that.
mudrose recovered a little bit by finding a Wikipedia article about some 20 or 30 Japanese paratroor trainees who got into a few drunken brawsl with some Dutch and Australian sailors outside a bordello in 1942.

This is a great new program.
They combined "Meet the Press" with "Face the Nation" to create it.
It is brought to you courtesy of a grant from the Japanese Paratroopers" Benevolent Asscociation.

Mr. Kerry got shot in the azz while he was in his canoe for six months. McCain was in a prison camp for five years.
