he''s 71 ... his campaign was broke ... he has less likelyhood to be able to produce $3M (as repayment) than say someone that''s 45 (all other factors being the same).
now if he was trying to get a sub-prime mortgage ... he could have done that over the phone. - Reply to this comment
- Few Americans know that McCain cheated on his first wife with a woman 17 years younger than himself. People like him because they feel he has integrity, but they don%u2019t know the entire story.
I%u2019m sure this will all come out, AFTER McCain gets the nomination. We can%u2019t wait until then. Spread the word now! Posted by woman76

I just continue to laugh at stupid and ignorant posts like this. Democrats bickering and hateful attacks will pull them down again. Some JUST DO NOT GET IT. Obama or Hillary, yeah - enjoy that. Unless you are onb welfare, then it''s probably a good thing. Stop your whining and ****. - Reply to this comment
- Dear Romney, Paul and Huckabee supporters,
We don%u2019t like McCain and obviously the media does. They are purposefully withholding relevant information from the public. For example, John McCain has cancer, specifically melanoma, which is a very aggressive form of cancer. You can%u2019t ignore that with a candidate that would be 76 before leaving office!

- As a matter of ''fact'', regarding Romney''s record, he exaggerated everything and made up some stuff to puff his performance up higher than it was. This is all in factcheck.com or politifact.com''s websites.
Multiple times too because he keeps lying to the public about how great he is.
In fact, the first four items listed that McCain said about Romney were proven Correct and Romney wrong in his denials. from the last debate. - Reply to this comment
- The story is noteworthy because McCain was the first candidate to ever have to do what he did to get financing through the primaries and it was unusual.
Do any of you folks that apply for a loan need to take an insurance policy out?
Pry not, i think it was only because he is quite old to be taking out a 3 million dollar loan. - Reply to this comment
- WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Republican presidential candidate John McCain''s campaign is out of debt after a Washington bank issued a $3 million loan with a life insurance policy.
McCain has raised at least $7 million this month, vaulting his campaign coffers into the black after he took out the loan in November while the campaign was $500,000 in debt, The Washington Post reported Friday.
Finance reports for 2007 submitted Thursday to the Federal Election Commission revealed the loan, as well as the special life insurance policy the bank required McCain to take out in case he died before the end of his presidential campaign.
"It was a big gamble, but I think one of the most important strategic moves the McCain campaign has made," Anthony Corrado, a campaign finance expert at Colby College, told the Post, adding that he was unaware of any other cases where a candidate needed a life insurance policy to secure a loan.
McCain was "rolling the dice to get the money early, and if they won, it would be easy to repay," he said. - Reply to this comment

The claims complimenting his record should be reported with facts, otherwise, the claims for him show the person to be a fraud. And Romney too. - Reply to this comment

- And the point is?? Did he have to have life insurance because of ill health that we are not aware of? Was it because he is going to be such a great president he may be murdered? I fail to see the purpose in this headline other then to try and instill doubt in the voters.

I could give a rats behind what YOU say his record is... I can''t figure it out myself but I can''t hear ONE thing he''s proposing that is new or different from what got us in this hole to begin with. Remember the Fascist started off with a balanced budget and a surplus. Looking at where we''re at a 6 year old can figure out we aren''t going in the RIGHT direction. Especially with the 935 LIES told to start a war, he supports, that did not have to be are added to the list. Sieg Heil Bush!! - Reply to this comment

People around the world should watch the USA. This is what a country looks like that is crumbling and falling into chaos. Remember what the USA used to be. We were great once. Now we rant and attack each other on cbsnews.com. This wonderful thing called the Internet, and we can''t use it to foster an intelligent, informative, enlightening discussion. Very sad. - Reply to this comment
- vivaviva80, Japan started the war with us, and we finished it. Japan lost the war and now you''re crying about it? They shouldn''t have bombed us in the first place if they didn''t want war.

- Of course, it%u2019s one thing to overlook one or two issues where a candidate seeking the Republican nomination as a conservative might depart from conservative orthodoxy. But in McCain%u2019s case, adherence is the exception to the rule %u2014 McCain-Feingold (restrictions on political speech), McCain-Kennedy (amnesty for illegal aliens), McCain-Kennedy-Edwards (trial lawyers%u2019 bill of rights), McCain-Lieberman (global warming legislation), Gang of 14 (obstructing change to the filibuster rule for judicial nominations), the Bush tax cuts, and so forth. This is a record any bedwetting liberal Democrat would proudly run on. Are we to overlook this record when selecting a Republican nominee to carry our message in the general election?

- gotta hand it to McCain for that gamble that paid off well for him.
I wonder if the guys that have now dropped out and endorsed him can sort of shovel their campaign funds over to McCain. Can they return all the donations left over and urge those people to send the donation over to McCain''s campaign?
Or do they actually donate themselves now?
or urge their staff and paid operatives to donate to the candidate they endorsed?
I''d like to know all that stuff. - Reply to this comment
