Washington Post: Democratic Front-Runners Try Backing Away From Racially-Charged Debate
- pepperp,
100ker wasn''t talking about the nomination, they were talking about the general election.
Of course she has the Dem regulars behind her, that''s not enough to win.
The general election won''t be decided by the types who write on this board but by independent swing voters.
If Hillary isn''t toast before the nomination she will be afterwards. No one with 50% negatives can win and she can''t re-invent herself for the voters. She''s poison to the party and the polls show it.
She was asked by Tim Russert on Sunday about the polls and she got real evasive and defensive and tried to downplay them with a reference to the diebold job in New Hampshire.
She is toast. - Reply to this comment
- "...and she has done nothing but voted for war with Iraq and now again with Iran." posted by Vet_SK
Some of you people are idiots. People can be for something and then change their minds. It happens all the time. Hillary may have been for the Iraq war in the beginning but I think she changed her mind, didn''t she? There were a lot of people for that war but now that it has gone on and on, they have now changed their minds.
What you dumb-a-s-ses don''t get is that there are a lot of countries and terrorists out there that HATE your guts. When they come for YOU, YOU are going to want a president that is able to fight back. You are not going to want some wimpa-s-s in there that is totally against war because if that happens you are all going to DIE. - Reply to this comment

- Well the Clinton''''s opened the can of worms...

The media constructed this can of worms and opened it themselves. The 24 hour cable news systems manufactured a controversy that simply was not there and are beating this same horse trying to keep it alive. - Reply to this comment

DREAM ON it is the women in the Dem Party who swing....and they are 54 percent of the Party .....no dem can win without them none thinking that is delusional
Poll breakdown
Clinton leads Obama by substantial margins among whites, women, middle-aged adults, seniors, people who identify themselves as Democrats, and among self-described conservatives, moderates, and liberals. Obama leads, and leads big, among young adults and blacks. The two are closely matched among men and independents who lean Democratic. - Reply to this comment

- Mike71067,
That''s a nice littile RNC rap you have going but it doesn''t jive with reality. It was the democrats who reduced the welfare rolls and put people to work. The Republicans like to talk about it but the democrats did it and all the GOP did with their 12 years in total control of government was to spend us into the poor house AGAIN.
What have he republicans done to help blacks(or anyone else making less than $200,00 a year)? The answer is zip!
Democrats haven''t done enough but are clearly light years ahead of the GOP.
The Republicans agree that the best way to maintain a voter base is to hand out Corporate welfare like it''s candy and make the middle class pay for it. They then use wedge issues to divide the middle class in order to conquer.
Hillary has stolen some of the pages from your playbook but it''s still the only game you all have
and it not going to work this time. - Reply to this comment

- Clinton and Obama DO agree. They agree that the best way to maintain a good Democrat voter base is to keep as many black people dependent on government as possible. It doesn''t matter that Democrats don''t do anything to actually help blacks - as long as they keep talking the talk, and black voters are dumb enough to fall for it repeatedly, they won''t ever have to walk the walk.

- Again we have a bubble-headed blond on MSNBC breathlessly reporting about "viscous" comments flying back and forth between the Obama and Clinton camps! It''s pure BS. This whole issue has been manufactured out of whole cloth by the media looking to whip up a story. They continue to broadcast comments deliberately taken out of context to make them look racist or chauvinistic. It''s becoming a huge joke. They''re reporting on a story that they invented.

- How can people believe that Hillary will lead to do anything other then the status quo.
She''s had 8 years in the Whitehouse, 7 seven years in the senate, and she has done nothing but voted for war with Iraq and now again with Iran.
That rich blacks with incredible influence want to elect Hillary for the status quo should be a big signal that we need someone other then Hillary in there. The cancer of the poor is growing in this country and we need fresh ideas and fresh faces.
Then there''s the fact that she has no chance of winning against McCain. What are people thinking? Every poll is saying Obama is more electable. And even if Hillary gets elected, she will be powerless from the beginning - she''s way too hated. - Reply to this comment
Boycott the Debate tonight it is being run by MSNBC NBC by the same team that brought you the RACE Card via gender hate spitting Matthews et al and that machismo tough guy Russert, amazing that they can not find one non women not tied to the Bush cabinet to behave as a professional alternative to the spit dripping misogynist moderators from MSNBC and NBC with commentary from Newsweek and Wapo .

- Your opinion matters, but your tactics are exactly what voters are ready to go beyond. Republicans can''t seem to function without the partisan battle. Makes sense, when you have no solutions to offer.

Well, given the history and current status of blacks in America, 400 years of slavery and oppression in this land. I think we should welcome organizations and chruches who make a commitment to re-establish a sense of pride in self, heritage, community and ethnic education to blacks. Their ancestors labored in this country, for FREE, for decades, at least we should allow their sons and daughters the freedom to reconnect and embrace their own history, which was lost so long ago... - Reply to this comment
