Photo ID--finger prints--giving up your first born--what does it matter if you have the right Justice department or "fixed" voting machines to get you in office?

Democrats are not opposed if it''''s free and if all polling places spend the same amount of time checking the ID. Otherwise voters in rich white republican districts will not be asked in order to get as many of their votes in as possible, while in poorer more Democratic districts they''''ll spend 20 mins examining each ID card to make the lines longer and suppress the vote.

Why are republicans so addicted to dirty voting tricks?

I bet when we are forced to get our national ID cards, there will be a card reader on every voting machine.

A picture ID would be a great way to prevent voter fraud.

Make the ID card free

Why are Democrats against stopping potential voter fraud???

The right to vote in this country is one of our most sacred privileges. It comes to us at the cost of many lives, both American and not, female and not, white and not. Consequently, it is a privilege granted only to those who are entitled to it, and that entitlement is bestowed through citizenship alone. Therefore, the burden of proving one''s citizenship falls equally upon all who wish to claim their due rights.

I agree that the ability to obtain proof of one''s citizenship should not be an economic burden, but should be each state''s service to its citizens. Or perhaps federalize it, and then delegate such service to the U.S. Library of Congress, subsequently making the information available via the Freedom of Information Act. This effectively ''levels'' the playing field for all who require the information.

And before anyone claims that the economically displaced remain disadvantaged under such a system, there are agencies which exist to assist the homeless and disadvantaged with making such requests of state and federal service agencies for receiving due benefits, including records and documentation.

Who pays for the card? WE DO. We pay for the bureauocracy that issues registration cards....I''d gladly pay an extra dollar or two to have a picture on the card.

I can''t figure this out.....Dems/Libs want to issue ID cards to illegal aliens, but they don''t think their own LEGAL constituents are responsible/intelligent enough to show up to vote with an ID? Where is the consistency in this?

How can ANY American be against a measure to fight voter fraud? Could it be that a certain party tends to benefit from the vote of non-existant and/or dead people whose ID can''t be verified?

It''s all to plain what''s going on here folks: Issue IDs for illegals...so that when they become legal, they''ll vote for us. DON''T issue IDs for the dead/non-existant because we want their vote to continue to count for us! Every vote counts and count every vote!--The Democrat Mantra during the Florida recount.
