Term limits are good. But moneyed interests will just put up their puppet candidate to replace the one who''s leaving. I think that we need to buy back out Democracy by publicly financing viable candidates who really want to serve the nation.
On wedge issues, they just throw them out there to divide us because they know that if we realize that we all share common interests and values, then we see that they don''t represent us at all and throw them out.- Reply to this comment
- Wow! Dumbocrats really ARE the party of change! Congress used to be a bunch of corrupt Republicans, now it''s a bunch of corrupt Democrats.
Personally, I prefer the corrupt Republicans. At least they weren''t talking about how they were going to "clean up" Washington. - Reply to this comment
- The ferry would be OK with me.
Who funded the RRs across american and did not complain.
Try the ferry for 1 year or 2 and see what happens. - Reply to this comment

- Micma - I have to admit my ignorance on Finance reform.
I recognize one truth in your statement right up front - I do think issues pendulum back and forth, depending on who is in power (not just presidency) - but whomever has the influence.
Sometimes I wonder if term limits would help that issue. It may cause the representative or Senator to ignore those that could influence their vote and cause them to be more responsive to the people they were elected by. - Reply to this comment

- Hey Mud, you and I have been pretty much along the same lines politically in the past...
I''m asking you to ignore the last post sent to you that is causing yo to feel you need to send out another retort. As a personal favor.
And if someone throws another ignore it too.
Come back to Fornicario and Micma with something that is not a taunt, but something that will make them realize you know it is a problem, and that you want it fixed too. I KNOW you are there. I know it is hard to agree with someone that has flavored their comments with their political point of view.
But, we get no where with flinging t|t for tat comments.

- I''''m neither rigid or frigid. I resent anyone attempting to change my country into a Nanny Welfare, Socialist, Secular Government. It''''s as simple as that.

To zero in on one point. You do not believe in secular government, yet you know the Constitution expressly separates Church and State? - Reply to this comment
- Okay mudrose, a simple question. How do you feel about the article on this page?

I know that many on the right have been against finance reform but as the pendulum of power shifts to the left maybe some of you will change your mind when you see Democrats begin to take advantage of a system that has been totally corrupted by the influence of money. Our Democracy was bought out by corporations and special interests years ago. It''s time we buy it back.- Reply to this comment
- Thanks Fornicario. I''m making a list of folks on a word doc and I''m going to keep some notes on there as to whom I have an agreement with about being civil.
If ever I break my agreement tell me to look at my Santa List. - you''re on.
I''ve never heard of "wedge issues" MICMA. I''ll read up on it. - Reply to this comment
- You''''''''ll get nowhere with mudrose. He''''''''s paid to divide, spin, and lie.

No, it may not be as nefarious as that, micma. He honestly believes that he is right at any cost, and that is the hardest kind of ideology to change.
