I am a Born Again Christian and have been for years. I am also in sales. I sell office equipment to churches and I work with the brethren all day. I Never, I repeat Never use my Christian faith to pursuade someone to buy something from me. That is what Huck is doing. It is wrong and he should be ashamed. Furthermore he lies at his education. He says that he has completed his degrees and if you google him he hasn''t. Our Christian brothers and sisters need to wake up. Didn''t we learn our lesson 4 and 8 years ago? The truth is this is not a Theocracy. Yes this country was founded by mostly Christian people, but we need people here that follow the rule of law. Our Christian forefathers knew that all religions needed to be seperate for both the governments'' and the religions'' sake.

Does this saying sound familiar?

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them

(The point Jesus is making here. You need to not judge a book by it''s cover. Let their deeds judge them) Look at Huckabee''s record and you''ll know.

Benny,

That is the sincere emotion that I thought you would have. Belief is fine, I believe that the US was founded as a light to show the rest of the world how Millions of people can live together without the fear and oppression of other regimes. God is good and just, but too many of His followers do PUSH him on others, and not always overtly. Many people will do so through the back door. These are the ones who must be guarded against. IMHO, Huckabee has done too many deals like that here in Arkansas and cannot be allowed to win a presidency. He is not very transparent and is too harsh on those who really need the help of the government. I agree, his issues on the flat tax and immigration are horrible.

I don''[t support Huck either.
Just because of the flat tax issue and the illegal immigrant policies he will try to implement.

I believe, in all honesty, that the United States was created for all to show the goodness of God to all, even those who do not believe in him, and even to those who hate him. He is good to the just and the unjust, and causes rain to fall on the good and the evil. He blesses whom he may bless, and curses whom he may curse.
The United States is a blessing ... and from GOD. I just don''t understand why people fight him.

As far as Huckabee goes, he is about as conservative as you can get in a guy who can actually make a serious bid for president. He is not a friend of people who don''t agree with him. He was very stand offish and childish in his administration here in Arkansas. I don''t think that he would be a good choice to lead the country. He tends to base too many decisions on his religious beliefs and not on what was good for Arkansans. His take on education, while helpful in some respects, did too many things to hurt public schools and try to place tax money into private usually religious schools.

Who exactly do you think was persecuted by religion? Jesus. He was crucified by the religious leaders of his day.
So, don''t you think it makes sense that he would fight religious persecution by creating a government that would enforce religious freedom for all? By inspiring the Constitution? By allowing persecuted peoples to come here and prosper?
What you need to understand is that Jesus was not free in his day to do the things he actually did. Many of them were "doctrinally incorrect, blasphemous, and downright disrespectful" to those who either didn''t or refused to believe in him.

I am not pushing anything on you. But, understand that there are some people on these boards that have no earthly idea what they''re talking about. Those of us who DO know, have a responsibility to correct it.

Prove it, Benny. there are very few facts to back up your statement. All you need to do is actually do some research to find that this nation was NOT founded on Jesus, but on freedom FROM religious persecution.

Toolmangler, I always assume that there are more like you, but as you said, the bad apples are louder and get more press. Again, thank you for your respect for others.

Well, if you get a group of people together that have genuine grievances of such things, it''s no longer a personal perspective. I no longer put down on applications that I''m a Christian. I literally have to keep myself separate from co-workers who are just looking for a reason to exploit you. I have to pretty much live alone, because not only am I surrounded by those who break the law, but accused by the same of breaking the law. And, I have not.

You think its OK to be a christian in the white house?

Who do you think is responsible for millions of dead human beings in the middle east?

George Bush is a ''good'' Christian, and his ''faith based bribe'' bought the ''mindless christian vote'' that begot those millions of DEAD men, women, and Children.

That is all we''re doing is fighting for our way of life. We know that it is God alone that gives us freedom and prosperity, that builds nations and governments, that destroys nations and governments. We also know that if we do NOT speak up and fight for God, that when he goes to destroy a nation that we will be right in the middle of it.

"Gossiped about, fired over something we didn''''t do, not chosen for a job because of religion, unfairly exploited, undermined, unheard, and mistreated."

boo hoo bennyblack1. If it weren''t for the "Liberals" you wouldn''t have any government agency or legal standing to challenge these injustices. By the way, that line about "just trying to do good" is what everyone trying to force their beliefs on others always says. EVERYONE thinks that they are just trying to do good. Unfortunately, it''s only good from that person''s perspective. you know, goose, gander and all.

AR;
Well, the foundation of our country was not upon religion. It was upon Jesus Christ. And frankly, I believe that God himself inspired men to invent the wonderful Capitalist system. I believe it is God himself who created a state of freedom where ANYONE can come and work hard, regardless of race, creed, or religion or even of no religion. I believe that it is God himself who established the family unit. I believe that it is God himself who inspired men to write the Constitution. I understand how you feel. Uneducated who think they know...don''t. And that is where you have the problem. By and large, though, Christians are highly moral and intelligent people that understand the Bible, and what it means to be a Christian. It is said by Paul the Apostle that we should "lay hands on no man suddenly." Paul the Apostle said that we should work with our own hands, and let our lifestyles speak for us. Proverbs pretty much spells it out when Solomon wrote that every man should own his own property and dig his own wells, while living before God. It is a command that we should aid the poor in gaining a successful foot hold, while not bragging about our own works. At the same time, we should also fight for our way of life.

Toolmangler, I appreciate your take on things. I would submit that you are one of the very few. By in large, every conservative Christian I know personally and in the public arena tries to force their beliefs on others and not allow free choice. And since freedom and choice are what our country was founded on, I think that these are the things we need. Again, thank you for not pushing the issue of religion when you are told "No, thanks."

Tool;

Dang, and are we watched! Mercy! More so than the criminals. And we just try to do right. That''s all. Gossiped about, fired over something we didn''t do, not chosen for a job because of religion, unfairly exploited, undermined, unheard, and mistreated.

I would be someone who has seen religion forced on others with my own eyes. I have seen too many horrible things happen to kids because their parents are "religious" and "good Christian People" who neglect their children and scar them mentally and physically for life. As I said before, religion has no place in public life.

As for home schooling... I have nothing against it, but I think that home schoolers tend to lean conservative and Christian and don''t like the fact that religion is not taught in public schools. Also from personal knowledge.

Wow, I dont know if we want a US President in the 21st century advocating going back to home schooling. This seems like step back to the 1930s.

My God, why cant we get a candidate to move us foward. There is no future in the past. We cant go back to a predominately agricultural nation as we were in the early 1900s.

First, Bush created an national education branch of the federal govt and the next President identifies with homeschooling. What a wild swing.

And I agree, home schooling means it will be heavily biased with religious views. As religiously diverse as we are now (compared to the 1900s), eveyone would be biasing thier kids differently. Society would be a fragmented mess.

Conservative Christians desperately want change so that they can FORCE their beliefs on others. It''''s the same as the radical Islamists, only the Christians haven''''t gotten to the point of using guns... yet.

You are wrong, Conservative Christians do not force themselves, Radical christians do. I am a conservative Christian Democrat. All I will do is try to tell you about GOD, if you reject him, that is up to you. After I have tried and been told no. I shut up. and just try to be a friend that you can watch.
