Another thing...
5 Christians DIED last week at the hands of a gunman who HATED Christianity. MyIDon...there''s your proof, which created a precedence across the US for heightened armed security in the churches. Christians are being TARGETED by left wing terrorist groups both inside and outside the United States, both publicly and privately. So, MyIDon, don''t tell me I''m crazy!

If you think that terrorist groups and Christianity bear ANY resemblance, you need your head examined!

Neo con
OK...you don''t see the difference? Am I pimping your daughter out in the street? Am I pumping her full of drugs trying to persuade her to accept my religion? Am I running around the streets of America blackmarketing weapons? Am I running around with a gang of people executing a terrorist plot on an airport? Am I showing up on your front door with a machine gun or a mercede demanding that you renounce your beliefs and accept mine or die? Neo con...
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE!

MyI Don..
However, I really shouldn''t be angry. Jesus told us to expect that sort of treatment. And, it really is true. Look at all these nutcases that would rather have a terrorist regime at the helm than to acknowledge there is a God who is good who reigns supreme.

"What guidance do atheists have in establishing laws and absolute morals and principles?" ... morals are not absolute as they change with different cultures. The only absolute we can be certain of is that religious fanatics are "absolutely" certain to take our freedom from religion away ... if we let them.

So tired of these CHINOS (Christians in name only) stealing the name of Christ as a banner to hide their personal agendas that are in reality, very anti-christian. Only a CHINO would oppose teaching science in schools if they disagreed with it, or try to force their ideas on a school or a nation.

Satan is laughing with delight...

There certainly are plenty of quotes about God and the Bible from the Founding Fathers, but the fact is that they deliberately chose NOT to make the USA a "Christian" nation, but rather made it a "secular" nation where any and all religions could be practiced.

Some "christians" would like to revise that history and make the US like a Christian Taliban state. The Book of Revelations is a darling of the Endtimers, who lead the pack in trying to make the USA a theocracy. It''s good to realize that the Author of the Constitution, Thomas Jefferson, found the Endtimers favorite part of the Bible to be "the ravings of a lunatic."

That''s how I find it also. Total fruitcake.

"See the Middle East. My Lord how people get so offended that our country was founded on Biblical principles simply ASTONISHES ME!"

Well then we agree. Some of the principles in the Constitution are also found in other books: bible, Quran, etc.

The country was founded on those universal and secular principles that unite humanity. Just because the people who wrote the bible included some of the same ideas, doesn''t give the bible any authority over the Constitution.

In fact, there are plenty of things in the bible that were not included in the Constitution, and the authors of the Constitution were probably familiar with some versions of the bible--so they deliberately decided to exclude any religious authority in the foundation of the country. It was a great idea, and it is a large part of what made the USA a great country.

"The Constitution was written based off Biblical principles"

No, but it may be the people who wrote the bible used some of the same ideas as the people who wrote the Constitution. Probably fins some of the same ideas and themes in the Quran, the Boy Scout handbook, ...

Common ideas doesn''t mean anything except that educated people wrote both texts.

Huckabee is a good man, That being said he should not be President of the USA. There are many reasons for this. Chief among them is his immature religious stand. I am not faulting his beliefs, I am doubting his understanding of Christian responsibility. He will grow I am sure and when his knowledge is solidly founded I may vote for him in the future. His time is not yet.

"I believe, in all honesty, that the United States was created for all to show the goodness of God to all." -- bennyblack1

Spoken like a truly egotistical, nationalistic xenophobe! Read your Bible again, benny. This ain''t the "promised land".

I believe, in all honesty, that the Founding Fathers created this nation and that they clearly intended for Church and State to remain forever separate! If you look at any history books, you''ll find that my belief is supported by numerous incontrovertible facts, whereas your belief is just a pathetic attempt to instil some meaning in what must be an otherwise empty and meaningless existence.

"Dang, and are we watched! Mercy! More so than the criminals. And we just try to do right. That''s all. Gossiped about, fired over something we didn''t do, not chosen for a job because of religion, unfairly exploited, undermined, unheard, and mistreated." -- bennyblack1

Spoken like a true paranoid schizophrenic who is off his meds!

Benny, wake up and smell the coffee! Christians are in the Majority in this country. Every single person running for president (and nearly every other elected official) claims to be a "Christian", the vast majority of Congressmen and Senators are Christians, the Supreme Court is nearly 100% Christian, Christians control most every local school board in this country... Christians are EVERYWHERE!. If you feel persecuted because you are a Christian, then it''s only in your mind! Please seek the help of a qualified mental health professional ASAP!

if you want to find out some of the things that Huckabee has done, I suggest you check out www.arktimes.com. It is a free, independent minded newspaper that doesn''t just puppet what Huckabee wanted. The Arkansas Blog tracked some interesting things that the Huckster did in his stint here in Arkansas that don''t exactly bear "good fruit".

.
QUESTION: What do a Radical, Islamic Muslin Jihadist and a Right-Wing American Evangelical Nut-Job have in common?

ANSWER: They BOTH strongly support and religiously follow Mike Huckabee''s statement that "a wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband".

I have no doubt that Huck will bring these two groups together.

Women everywhere: beware of this Neanderthal.

-The Constitution was written based off Biblical principles. (Absolute laws).

If you do not think so, please share with the board what the "core" principles of secularism consist of? What book do secularists/atheists abide by to gain their moral absolutes and principles and laws?

Posted by singinrick at 01:18 PM

To singinrick:

The Constitution was not founded on biblical principles -- in fact, the Founders were very specific that religion was not involved in any way, shape or form with the US govt -- including the fact that God is never mentioned once in the Constitution.

But the fact that religion should not be involved in govt is mentioned several times -- starting with Article VI that prohibits any religious test for office -- and then going to the 1st Amendment where the govt cannot sponsor or promote ("respect the establisment of") any religion.

I suggest - quit attempting to throw your (g)od at us. The U.S. Constitution didn''t. Who should you?
