I would have been more willing to listen to him if he had said "What would Brian Boitano do?"

Funny reading the comments - it would seem that the right reserves the right to be a Christian for themselves.

From the article: "He is running against Republican incumbent Haley Barbour, he answers, because he wants "to serve my creator."

What?! God wants him to unseat the Republican who was able to pull Mississippi through the devastating effects of Katrina, while his Democrat neighbors (Nagin, etc.) fumbled, leaving their states in shambles?

"But what is most startling to Bible Belt voters here, where faith-based appeals most often come from the religious right, is that Eaves is a Democrat."
I don''t know why people are surprised?

What would Jesus do?
Jesus would be a Democrat.

Don''t let the wedge issues get in the way like abortion, Because if Republicans would just agree to help take care of all the babies already here,
It would be a non issue.

We have a year, lets wait and see. All the others have their say, let him have his and then balance what he says aginst what he does, and do the same to
the others.

Uh... so this guy is a Republican.

Just call a spade a spade.

Democrats are ungodly, whining, liberal, spoiled, heathens anyway...

This guy is just trying to get elected by wooing a major party for support, like Ron Paul- big deal. He doesn''t care about the party''s platform.

Hitler-y for Queen of the United States!

Long-live the American Empire- ambition prevails with her!

Caesar did it to Rome, why not Hell-ary to America?

exremophil,

We already have dangerous blind faith, it''s called Corporate greed and it robs from the poor to ingratiate the wealthy.

If this guy can banish the money changers from state politics and provide healthcare which focuses on the least among us he will be dangerous to Corporate intersts but not to you and me.

There are, however, over 900 recognized sects of Christianity in the US and many unrecognized sects too.

The number of different recognized religious beliefs of all kinds in the US must be nearly 2000.

Many of us are Democrats because we are Christians.

Many are Democrats for other reasons.

Most of us are seeking to do good.

For voters that is the main thing.

Tow morons running against each other trying to out-gun and out-Jesus out-g-a-y-bash and out-anti-science each other. No wonder Mississippi is dead last in everything.

"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side." -- Aristotle, 343 B.C.

If you mean government, yes, it should be already built in. But it''s not realistic for the foreseeable future. It%u2019s better to deal with the compound hypocritical nature of the neocon%u2019s revving up right-wing evangelicals with cynical pandering. Now that the conservative christians (an oxymoron) are catching on, they''ll go back the fringe where they belong.

LOL We are begining to taste the REAL blunt of Religion in the South. I have walked with many a true Christian and they hold the SAME views on some things as this guy... the problem is he wants to return to the schools the SAME people who taught Equal but Different to kids in the 40''s and 50''s. The last time the FBI had any track on the true Religious Reigh, the one that taught that garbage, 80% of them belonged to the Klan... I hardly think they just went away when the Civil Rights Act was passed... this guy is a real thorn in their side though... ANY movement toward the center by a Southern State should be looked upon as a PLUS.
