People are not neatly categorized, and John Eaves defies the "mainstream" parameters of what we expect.

By the same habit, we tend to forget a sizable portion of those voting for a Democratic candidate also oppose abortion and believe in the right-to-life.

This disposition applies across the nation, whether in the Bible Belt or the traditionally catholic and orthodox portions of the Northcentral and Northeast US.

Interestingly, such voters realized long ago a monomania about abortion accomplishes little, politically-- they remember both Reagan and Bush2 preached against abortion, but did so very little to change the landscape by their views.

Accordingly, such Democratic voters focus on the issues where Bush2 has been actively destructive-- some 1,892 of them, by last count.

As a life-long resident of Mississippi, I am disgusted by the aim that John Eaves has attempted to take during this campaign. He claims to be this holier-than-thou one in a million religious politician who is going to be the one and only to finally change the problems and views put on our state. I''m sorry, but you across the nation have no idea about the true story of this "christian democrat" and he and his wife''s past. He should be asking for forgiveness, not tax increases. Haley Barbour has done a wonderful job leading our state, creating a better place for our children, no one is going to take office and clean everything up in one day. You show me someone who claims to do that and I''ll show you yet another lying politician. Haley DID get us through one of the worst times when dealing with Katrina, yet the Democrats next door claimed they were the only ones ever affected by the storm. John Eaves can claim whatever he wants to be, but I''ll tell you what Jesus would do, He will make sure that John Eaves behavior does not go without notice and his false claims will not be rewarded!

"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side." -- Aristotle, 343 B.C.

"I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews, I am doing the Lord''s work."

How did you get so stupid? Indoctrination? You''ve bought into definitions that are a fantasy, a weak debate technique called the straw-man.

Wealthy evangelical Christian, 41-year-old plaintiff attorney, he opposes abortion and same-*** marriage and favors teaching creationism alongside evolution."

This guy is a Republican in Democrat clothing. Jesus said: "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:24

From the article: "I am a Democrat because I am a Christian," he tells voters.

Oh, now I see. If a Republican had said something like this, he would be lynched by the leftist news-media mob.

If double-standards didn''t exist, would we still have Democrats?

John 18:36 "My kingdom is no part of this world." (Jesus)
John 17:16 "They are no part of the world just as I am no part of the world." (Jesus)
Daniel 2:44 "And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite"

True Christianity has no place in politics.

Asking that automatically marks you an obvious fan of the biggest problem plaguing the human race in the modern age. If you envy people like that, that strap on bombs (without mentioning killing innocents) to die as an "example", then hopefully someone will oblige you without causing other deaths.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you that judge everything on your own religious
beliefs(catholics, baptist, etc) and condemn eastern religions would die for your believes as easterners do?

I predict that in the near future Earth will be dominated by a powerful, one world government. Once free nations are slaves to the will of a tiny, global elite. The dawn of a new dark age is upon mankind. Countries are a thing of the past. Every form of independence is under attack, with the family, even the individual itself, nearing extinction. Close to 80% of the earth''s population has been eliminated. The remnants of a once free humanity are forced to live within highly controlled, compact, prison-like cities. Travel is highly restricted. Superhighways connect the mega-cities and are designed to keep the population from entering into unauthorized zones. No human activity is private. Artificially intelligent super computers chronicle and catagorize a person''s every action. A prison planet run by a ruthless gang of control freaks, whose power can never be challenged, will dominate. This is the vision of Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and their fellow members of The Bilderberg Group. Their goal: a program of total dehumanization, where the science of tyranny is Law. A worldwide control grid, designed to ensure the overlords'' monopoly of power forever. Our species will be condemed to this nightmare future unless the masses are awakened to their New World Order master plan, and mobilized to defeat it. Erected secretly, the Georgia Guide Stones are a testament to their totalitarian plan for a world religion; global Laws; a global court; and a global army to enforce those Laws.

What a novel concept!

An evangelical Christian candidate who gives us a different Jesus Christ than the ones the GOP enagelicals are. Instead of a Jesus who makes the rich richer, he gives us one who wants to help the poor and tells the rich to give away everything they have. Instead of a Jesus armed with an M-16 leading his mercenary "army" of apostles against anyone who doesn''t believe the way he does, he gives us a Jesus who turns the other cheek (the world''s first NON-VIOLENT protester!). Instead of a Jesus who wants to rule and destroy the world, we have a Jesus who finds more meaning in nature.

What would the right-wingers say? This "new Jesus" is a "terrrrrorist"??!

SIG HEIL, BUSH!!!!

This sounds like the Jesus I leaned about in school and read about in the Bible, not the "Rambo Soldier" you hear Pat Robertson and Oral Roberts talk about!

I live in Mississippi and I am Southern Baptist. Mr. Eaves campaign seems to have little impression on Baptists, at least those in my church. Governor Haley Barbour is viewed by most as a excellent leader and will be re-elected. Eaves "money-changers" campaign is seen as pure political pandering, nothing else, at least among my friends.

It is unfortunate that some minds like Johnny''s can''t comprehend evangelicals as Democrats. Don''t assume that Republicans have the upper hand with respect to christian people of faith. Given the performance of Republican leadership within the past 10, one shouldn''t be surprised that evangelicals are abandoning blind allegiance to any party. I know plenty of evangelicals who are Democrats all over the country, even in California. It''s the general public that assumes that christian people of faith would vote republican. Certainly there are those evangelical leaders who are vocal and in the news. And many of them are not speaking the truth in love...they have their own political agenda. And these people do not speak for all evangelicals. There are some who care about the poor, justice under the law, and the environment. If you can''t believe that this is true, then your vision of America is too narrow. And should shut up!!! There are too many folks opining in these blogs who have no clue about reality. And they just love to spread lies and bad information.
