- farouk7: I think it''s clear that you are a city dweller and you don''t understand those of us who live in the country and the small towns and you never will. We are different than you. We think differently, we act differently, we even eat differently than you even though most of us are just as educated as you city dwellers. Some of us even hold college degrees but still we are a different kind of people than you city dwellers. You''ll never understand us and we don''t understand you. Therefore, I don''t think there''s any point in continuing this conversation. There is one more thing that I want to point out to you though. If the recession gets really bad and turns into a depression we country people will survive because we can hunt and fish and we know how to skin, clean, and cook what we bring home!

- And about the sanctity of life that Sarah talks about, she is talking about human beings not animals. She is like me and most other normal thinking people, she puts people and our welfare before animals!

I''m sorry that both you and Sarah Palin relegate animals to such a low stature. Palin voted to remove the Polar bear from the endangered species list. I seriously doubt she can clam they make any threat to the human food chain. They generally avoid humans whenever possible. And leaving wounded animals to writhe in pain is intolerable. To kill little pups that do not pose a threat to anyone is beyond comprehension. But the fact that Ms Palin takes such satisfaction in killing is repugnant to the sensibilities of most people. When she kills for trophies to mount on her walls is sickening. I think she should consult her witch doctor about the error of her ways. I find her ignorant as well as repulsive, and I don''t know how you determined that her "sanctity of life" that she trumpets only applies to animals. Are you a mind reader? If so, I''m afraid she gives you very little to read. - Reply to this comment
- farouk7: I know that they don''t raise much cattle in Alaska but they do in the lower 48 states and in Canada and wolves are a problem for them. They do, though, have moose, caribou, and elk. Since they don''t raise much cattle in Alaska and most of their beef is shipped in and very expensive, they do eat a lot of moose, caribou, and elk because it''s cheaper and more available. I''m not just talking about Sarah Palin either! I''m talking about Alaskans in general, including the people in the cities. Wolves also kill moose, caribou, and elk. The wolves take the food right out of their mouths in Alaska too! Therefore they have to keep the wolf population down if they want food on their plates! I don''t think they are trying to wipe out all of the wolves. After all wolves are beautiful animals and they have a place in our world and our eco system. However we can''t allow the wolf population to become too large anywhere in North America including Alaska. The human food supply has to come first. And about the sanctity of life that Sarah talks about, she is talking about human beings not animals. She is like me and most other normal thinking people, she puts people and our welfare before animals!

- Ranchers battle wolves, coyotes, snakes, disease and the weather just to raise their cattle and get them to market and eventually to your plate. You should think about that the next time you sit down to a steak dinner.

An insignificant number of cattle are raised in Alaska. There are only 100 grazing days because of the weather. Most of the cows in Alaska are feral; most of the cows raised for beef are raised in the Aleutian and Kodiak islands, nowhere near population centers. And, in my mind, the slaughter of so many wolves, bears and other animals is not justified by the small number of cattle brought to market.
As for me sitting down to a steak dinner, it''s a sacrifice I''d be willing to make.
Again, so much for the sanctity of life that Palin trumpets so loudly. To me, shooting animals, whatever breed, and leaving many wounded and dying is not my idea of "sanctity of life" this woman has talked about. I''m sure that bear rug in her office was not an example of a threat to farmers, more of a trophy for her boundless ego than anything else. - Reply to this comment
- Sarah has successfully defined the base of the republican party. Those who are somewhat informed and those who have given even a small effort to educating themselves are moving away from the party. Soon, the republican party will be comprised ''''completely'''' of the billionaires who control it and the trailer dwelling gun-totin'''' morons who actually believe that morality is synonymous with war.

Sad, isn''t it? I just went through some small towns in the US and saw "Palin ''12" bumper stickers. You''ve GOT to be kidding me. - Reply to this comment
- Carlyonsue, there is a huge difference between a misstatement and proving in interview after interview that you are of only average intelligence... which is good enough for some but not who I want for President. I want someone smarter than I am.
Obama''s interviews were generally intelligent and thoughtful even on tough issues as compared to Palin''s muffing of even the most basic questions ... until and unless she had been briefed to death on them. This is NOT the fault of the McCain handlers because she has continued to exhibit these traits even in recent interviews. I do not understand why you will not just admit she''s not that bright and she certainly isn''t educated. I have lots of other issues with her, but even if I adored her, that would be enough not to vote for her. - Reply to this comment
- farouk7: If you were a rancher you wouldn''t have so much pity for wolves. Wolves kill cattle. Everytime a wolf kills a cow it''s money out of that rancher''s wallet! Ranchers battle wolves, coyotes, snakes, disease and the weather just to raise their cattle and get them to market and eventually to your plate. You should think about that the next time you sit down to a steak dinner.

- hatesthecolt: I remind you that Obama didn''t do so well when he didn''t have a teleprompter either and he thinks that there are 58 states in the union, too!

- Didn''t Palin get the news? Bush pardoned a few turkeys, maybe she was one of the lucky ones.

- And she''s only had 19 wolves killed by aerial shooters so far this month. I wonder if she''ll brag about that on the trail. Save all of God''s children but kill off the wolves and polar bears. I guess she thinks God made a mistake in creating them?

800 wolves killed from helicopter so far this year and additional 14 pups. Impossible to know how many were left wounded and dying. What a good feeling she must have. Good thing she believes in "Right to Life" or we''d really be in trouble. - Reply to this comment
