- I own an Irish Jack Russell and there is no nicer, smarter, cooler dog on the planet. These are all sweet tempered and good with children and crowds. He should absolutely check the breed out.

- I vote for a poodle/irish water retriever mix and do a nation search of shelters. we''ve gotten several purebreds from shelters, just not papered. the mix i''m suggesting is complementary and similar in looks, temperament and size, both are low dander breeds, which will reduce some of the allergic reactions. getting a mix adds to the gene poole and results are less chance of inbreeding and health problems.
good luck! - Reply to this comment
- It think its great Sasha and Malia are getting dog. Animals lovers are excited, and it is simple fun to speculate. Why do people have to be so negative, we know their are important issues facing the country, but this topic takes the edge off. Yes, you can find a hypoallergenic dog at a shelter or pound, especailly with all the foreclosure dogs being turned in...

- A dog breeder taught me when I was a youth that there were only 3 true non-shedding breeds in the AKC. Those breeds are the Poodle, Bedlington Terrier and the Kerry Blue Terrier. All others produce an undercoat and shed to some extent.
On the Early Show Sunday Morning, a comment was made in regards to a dog that would be a DOG, not a little furry thing. The Kerry Blue Terrier would be just that (maturing to 35-40 pounds). Google it and you will find a wonderful companion. - Reply to this comment
- This morning I was awakened by sly remarks by one of the anchor women on early sat. morn. trying to crack jokes about their not being a dog that is non allergic. I hope she was not picking on the Pres. elect ALREADY. IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE. WE HAD TO DEAL NOW YOU''LL HAVE TO DEAL. ITS ONLY FAIR. IOVE THE SHOW PLEASE DON''T MAKE ME CHANGE THE CHANNEL.

- I think the kids would love a mini-doxie or dashhound. They are good for people with allergies. They are constantly grooming themselves (like a cat) and the short haired ones do not shed. Best of all, they are so sweet and lovable; the kids would just adore it.
