Actually, Nolalou - sorry, I jumped the gun. I''ve been doing more research and I have seen some articles written by economists backing up your claim. Then again I''ve seen economists refuting your claim.

It looks like in attempting to simplify complex behavior, it becomes difficult to factor out personal bias such that they tend to impute more causality than actually exists. Because people seem to be looking at the same data and are drawing conclusions all across the board based on what additional factors they choose to include or omit.

I guess we all will in return read into these studies what it is we choose to see . . .

Have you actually read the book or just the excerpt? Because I can''t tell whether it was the author who deliberately left out the party of Congress or whether it was you.

Because if Barack gets elected, it''ll be a Dem President and a Dem Congress in power, and Dem Presidents with a Dem Congress historically have the lowest growth rate out of all the possible combinations.

Not that GDP is the only indicator of economic health, but it is the one you brought up.

I''ll look for a citation to back up my claims if you want one . . .

Do you have a link to a citation to back that up?

Yes, we are gambling on our children and grandchildren''s future, which is why it is important to elect Obama! It is this republican administration that got us Billions in debt to China, with it''s Borrow & Spend mentality that will leave our children and grandchildren a huge debt to pay off!

It''s not that he doesn''t care - I think he just doesn''t get it.

Barack thinks he can ''trap'', shame and buy people into voting for him. McCain offered a deal.

Women are the swing vote in this election and the chance to vote for a woman on the ticket only comes once every quarter of a century. He should have picked Hillary.

Wow,
Senator Obama''s great political fortunes return as once again during this election his opponent turns out to be a nincompoop. Senator McCain shows his political prowess is equivalent to that of Allan Keys -remember him, the non-Illinois token minority freak show the Republican Party sent to prevent Obama%u2019s election to the Senate. And now McCain picks a token female to woo disgruntled Clinton supporters, revealing just how stupid and superficial he and other Republicans think those supporters are -somewhere George Carlin is begging to be brought back to life to tell just a few more jokes. Yes, she%u2019s been a governor and mayor of the least-populated state -smaller than most US cities- and a tiny town, -I think they now have a stoplight though -and she%u2019s a moose hunter, a sports reporter and a beauty queen. A lifetime member of the NRA and chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission -Cheney approves. A BS in journalism-communication from Idaho -very prestigious; clearly no other education is required. Fully qualified, you betcha; to ruin Republican chances to keep the Presidency. She makes me yearn for Dan Quayle! Senator Joe Biden vs. Governor Sarah Palin, there%u2019s a wartime VP debate for the century. President-Elect Obama might as well start selecting his Cabinet%u2026Ding-dong, hello Mrs. Bush, I%u2019m Michelle Obama, would you mind if I came in to measure the drapes, thanks.

McCainiacs - you get an "A" for blind optimism and an "F" for substance. You%u2019ve been watching Hannity again, who is an idiot, and his audience has proven to be among TV''s most ignorant. This woman - a governor of a state with a whopping 600K citizens that is floating on oil has - in her less than 2 years in office - had to deal with only one crisis...Getting an honest state employee to fire a state trooper because he happened to be divorcing the Governors sister - now that%u2019s great Republican experience - worthy of Monica Goodling - though at least she had a phony law degree! Do you really think McCain would have picked her if she was a man? All the Republican hypocrisy over affirmative action and McCain passes over many more imminently qualified men and women to pick a NRA-loving pro-life, nobody. That%u2019s judgment we can trust (to ruin our country)!
McCainiacs - your knowledge of history - Zilch. Obama has equivalent experience to Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Harry S. Truman, Theodore Roosevelt, shall I continue? I guess this token, unqualified, uneducated, affirmative-action-for-political- expediency McCain-pick does have Biden and Obama on one bit of experience; they%u2019ve never won a swimsuit competition...

Once upon a time there was a serpent who was badly injured in a fight with another animal. It managed to slither away to safety but would have surely died if a benevolent man had not seen it suffering by the side of the road. The goodly man carefully wrapped the snake up and took it to his house, where he bestowed the kindest and gentlest care on the snake until it was healed and could return to the wild. Just as the man was releasing the serpent back into the grass, the ungrateful snake turned and bit him on the hand.

"What did you do that for?" cried the man, who knew that the bite of this particular snake was usually fatal. "Didn''t I take care of you when no one else would?"

The snake shrugged (no small feat for a snake!) and replied to the benevolent--and now doomed-- man, "What did you expect? You knew I was a snake when you picked me up."

As if being elderly in presidential office is not risky enough McCain picks a beauty queen /soccer mom to replace him in the likely event of his death. Too much of a gamble for me.

Of course, its Obama who "doesn''t get it".

His socialized medicine and other big government plans will raise taxes at a time when the average family has a tight budget. He doesn''t care ... he has his ''legacy'' to protect.

His tax burdens on small and medium business will cost people their jobs at a time when savings are too low for them to make it thru the slow economy Obama will create.

He wannts socialized medicine despite the fact that it has never worked anywhere in the world. British people have been pulling their own teeth with pliers the last three years because they can''t get a timely appointment with a state supported doctor, and can''t afford the private ones. This is what Obama wants for you too.

He wants to pacify dangerous regimes at a time when they are sending weapons to terrorists, specifically for the purpose of murdering our citizens and our soldiers.

What I don''t get is why ANY of you want this future should we be unlucky enough to get saddled with this naive moron for four years.

Teeheehee - now I can just see all those "less qualified" potential VP''s voting the other way. "What an insult when the basis for qualification is a "skirt"!! When you can''t even remember how many homes you own, what does it matter who you pick when this pick would potentially show you in a better light than she herself. Hillary supporters should really be insulted that she could even think of comparing herself to Hillary, when there is not even an iota of similarity, especially in intelligence and experience. It takes one dumbo to know another.
