I think that is my point. The pres sets aggendas on what he wants, but the real control is congress and it seems that everytime they have control our ecomomy goes haywire. it seems it would be better for us to have a dem in the white house and reps in congress.

McCain chose Phil Gramm to be the co-chair of his campaign and calls him his "economic Guru."

Phil Gram caused the Subprime melt down.

If you have any doubt about it google it.

excerpt from AP article:

McCain chose Phil Gramm as general co-chairman presidential campaign, former Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Texas), led the charge in 1999 to repeal a Depression-era banking regulation law (see Gramm-Leach Act) which contributed significantly to today%u2019s Sub Prime meltdown and economic turmoil.

By the way Gramm''s wife Wendy Gramm was directly responsible for ENRON.

McCain%u2018s %u201CMcMortgage%u201D crisis. Senator McCain%u2018s foremost economic adviser, now his campaign%u2018s general co-chair, he%u2018s likeliest choice for treasury secretary, was still lobbying for the UBS Investment Bank, was still being paid to try to kill Senate bills to help people victimized by the mortgage crisis to save their own homes, was still fighting to help the banks and screw the homeowners while already fundraising for McCain, while already advising McCain on housing, on mortgages, on the economy.

It needs to be said that a woman at age 44 has just as much chance of having a non-disabled child as a woman of 25. Some doctors and "study groups" have tried to make it look like the older a woman gets, the more likely she will be to have a kid with Down''s Syndrome. The numbers were exaggerated and the studies skewed. I''m speaking as a mom who would have loved to have more children, but was newly married at 33, and knew more kids couldn''t be in our near future. So my husband had "the surgery". But I sure wouldn''t have minded MORE. Thankfully, adoption is an option. But it shouldn''t have to be for a mom of 37 who - it turns out - is in no more danger of having a Down''s child than Suzy Coed. I''m proud to have a VP candidate who didn''t choose abortion when not many would have blamed her for doing it.

My God, The qualifications to be president are getting rougher and rougher.
Now it takes a hoop shot and a mate that drives a snowmobile, who ever thought we''d see this day ?

Another thing, what is wrong with a woman who gives birth to her fifth child at age 44? She refused to use contraceptives, abstension or any other means to avoid bringing a handicapped child into the world. Every day children are born to a life of torment due to the warped beliefs and ignorance of the breeders they call ''''parents''''. Her youngest child (so far) will never have an equal chance in life, and may be exposed to incredible cruelty from his peers. This is not a person who presents ''''good judgment''''.

Metcalf, there is not oil under every acre of land.......

In ANWAR, only 20,000 of the 2,000,000 acres has proven oil in sufficient quantity to attract drillers. That is 1% of the total land and it is not in the mountains.....

Alaska, OIL

Oil, Alaska.

Hmmm,

There is millions of acres in Prudhoe Bay on the North Slope of Alaska next to ANWR (%u201Canwar-anwar!%u201D) that the Oil Companies are not in production of already approved Oil and Mineral Right harvesting.

OIL, Republican Governor, inexperienced, dumb broad, Oil, Alaska, REPUBLICANS%u2026.

For what it''s worth, gasoline prices were at an all-time low (when adjusted for inflation) during the Clinton Administration. I don''t necessarily correlate these two factors.

The economy flourished during the Clinton Administration and started to tank in 2001. But again, I don''t necessarily make a direct connection between the President and the economy.

david1737 Thank you for pointing that out I will check myself. However, weren''t gas prices and mortage rates fine just a couple of years ago? I dont claim to be an expert, but it seemed everything was fine with our economy until the dems took back control of the congress. Obama seems like a good man and in step with my generation that is more than likely where I will vote. From what I understand the dems have controlled the congress 90% of the time in the last 30 years and all those things that you pointed out happened under their watch. Right?

The names Governor Palin gave her children are reason enough to suspect her judgment.

Then, of course, there is the matter of her being a hardcore Republican.

So you are saying that clinton took over a recession?

That still doesnt really answer my question Clinton balanced the budget, but we were still in recession when he left office and he had a democrat controlled congress. The reps take control of the WH and the Congress and we have a boom. Dems take control of congress again and we are right back into recession again.

If you want answers google both Phil and Wendy Gramm.

Wendy Gramm is directly responsible for Enron.

Phil Gramm is directly responsible for the Subprime meltdown.

Please do some research. The Dems inherited the recession of the early 90s after 12 years of Republicans in the White House.

By the end of the 90s the Dems had created over 22 million new jobs and left a $5.5 trillion dollar budget surplus. And oil cost about $38 dollars per barrel.

Then the Repubs. took over and our debt is approaching $10 trillion dollars.

The Repubs have sold our country''s future to communist China (3/4 of a trillion dollars in T-bill.)

Oil cost over $100 per barrel.

The dollar has been devalued.

Home foreclosers are up more than 150%.

Undecided081, Republicans normally "fix" recession by borrowing more money from the future. When Democrats attempt to balance the budget, the bills catch up. W is the champion of borrowing, putting his Dad and Reagan to shame with the debt he has run up in Iraq. The Republican solution to terrorism is to start wars. This is like pouring gasoline on an ant bed. It makes the problem worse, but at least you have a big brown patch on your lawn as a testament to your frustration.
