I read the republican platform includes provision for the continuation of the Bush administration''s abusive interpretation of executive power which allowed them to lie to us, hide the truth, and then hide from penalties for their misdeeds. If McCain were truly a maverick he would not allow this, but he has shown, once again, he is just a continuation of Bush, Rove, and Cheney.

I''''ve heard this before but specifically how is McCain a "hero", and btw I''''m speaking as a non-hero ex-serviceman who served the same time McCain served.

McCain crashed 5 military planes at enormous cost to taxpayers. That tells me he is incompetent.

Yes he spent over 5 years as a POW but that doesn''''t make him a hero. He claims that he refused offers of freedom from his captors. Actually had he taken their offer he would have faced court martial charges for disobeying a standing order. The senior ranking officer at the camp had already issued an order that acceptance of offers of freedom will be only on the basis of seniority.

If one can win an election by being a POW, then McCain will win--however there are thousands of troops from WWII to current who have been POW''''s and some walking around without limbs, with brain injuries and a vast array of medical problems, BUT they are''''t using that to promote themselves.
