- Let''s not forget the questions of Barry Goldwater''s citizenship when he ran for president in 1964. He was born in Arizona at a time when it was a territory, not yet a state.
I seem to recall a gentlemen''s agreement not to pursue the question finally shut up the peanut gallery.
If a person is born on American territory, he is a citizen. Puerto Ricans, Marshallese, and Samoans among others are born U.S. citizens.

- Republicans are always so determined to undermine the very wonderful Democrats who run for office. I hope all you rats and rodunts who have evil as your motives will get what you have coming and it won''t be pretty. Has anyone cared that McCain has not gone to church until he wanted to be president? Has anyone cared that McCain is turning himself into a completely different person to please the republican base - 20%. Does anyone have something of worth he criticize Senator Obama about? - Plenty of people do not have their original birth certificate. I don''''t have mine. I had to get a new one from the state, so I could get a passport.
Comon people, obviously he has been investigated up, down and all around. I am sure that if he wasn''''t born in Hawaii, it would have come out a long time ago.
Looking at the posts here though, it appears that the Obama campaign needs to do more to put this to bed.
