Exactly, many are voting for Obama (whites) based on a kind of guilt rather than competence. It will be the first example of affirmative action gone awry at the Presidential level. Mediocracy in this case will rule America, and America will be mediocre.

99% of blacks are voting for Obama, while 50 some percent of whtes may. Is that racism on the part of blacks?
Posted by citizen08

Of course it is, and read this...

I believe deep down in my heart that we need to stand up on behalf of the nation and repent for how we''ve historically treated minorities.

So some are voting from a self inflicted guilt complex.... If they would give the office of president on that basis then perhaps they should give their job away as well. Just find an unemployed person of a different race and introduce them to their boss and then walk away. That will make it all better!!!

What''''s the big deal here? Are we afraid of a little tan?

Color is irrelevant to ability. In this case lack of ability to do anything but talk a good game is the concern.

Posted by smurfcrusher at 07:46 AM Yes, that''s all well and fine and the general opinion is to finally move beyond all this childish nonsense. However, the reality is that most people don''t want to let it go. My uncle is in his 70s and has vivid photos of segregation from his military service in the 50s in America''s south. We are barely socially removed from legally prohibited interracial relationships, segregated food counters and water fountains. In the not too distant past, whites didn''t even want to sit with blacks on a bus. Now, everyone is all hunky-dory with the whole integration thing and there''s no prejudice left? Yeah right.

People are just as prejudice as they were back then, they just hide it better. Every time you hear about a racial discrimination suit for someone being fire, blacks are crying that they were fired for the color of their skin. It''s a cop out for those who cannot accept the fact they were fired because they were incompetent. Racial tensions are perpetuated by an immature and far from creative media who are spoonfed their spew and rhetoric that we eat from troughs every day.

Try turning off your TV and getting out there and really seeing how much racial divides still exist very strongly in our culture. I stopped letting the media decide my issues for me years ago, turned off the TV and started forming my own opinions. Polls? I can''t believe ANYONE pays any attention whatsoever to those wasted efforts. Try thinking for yourselves.

The Democrats claim to be in support of the middle class but only the Reagan Republicans (of which McCain is one) truly supported the middle class by getting government off the backs of the people. Remember, government is not going to fix the problem...government IS the problem. Try telling that to Biden, Pelosi and Harry Reid, and don''t tell me those pathetic socialists, including Obama, have the American middle class or American worker in mind! Less government is the answer and only McCain is talking about that. Do you all want to be government workers and receive the health care version of your local post office from Obama??? Stop asking for Government to give unto you if you are Americans, and do something yourself and remain free.

Sorry people, this is about race only to the extent that Barack Obama would never have had a chance in this election if he were a white guy with the same (lack of any) experience or consistent record. If someone criticizes him on these issues, they are labeled by his campaign and the media as "racist."

I agree that the obsession with race is an unhealthy one, and only perpetuates racial tensions unnecessarily.

We are better than this, people.

Obama isn''t black, so this is a non-story. I could see if he was black, but he''s not. He''s of mixed race, just like most Americans are (I''m Italian and French).

It''s a little known fact that if you are drawing all the American presidents in history for a school project, when you get to number 44, your pink crayon will be a nub, and you''ll need to choose a different color anyway. Just coincidence, you may say?

What''s the big deal here? Are we afraid of a little tan? Britain''s prime minister is Brown, fer cryin'' out loud.

I remember a person here on the cite told me in Russia there problems with minorities'' treatment exist. Oh wait... In the US they flourish! Another told me we have superfluous state regulations. You know what I am hinting at, I believe: your goverment are forced to establish the regulations too! And look at the history information about Russia on the cite here... It doesn''t mention 27 million lives Russia lost in the WW2. Strange! I am still feeling odd at the western view on us, folks! I have been reading your books, watching your films and all and then you have poured out so much dubious opinions (ordinary people and politicians)! Ah well never mind! :(

Can someone tell me what Obama really is.The media says he is black. We know that is a lie.The media always lies.We know that Obama is 1/2 white. His father was part Arab and part black. So Obama is 50% white,??? % Arab & ???% black. What percent Arab and what percent black is it ????? Even if Obama wins,we still don''''t have a black president. This much is true...

Posted by mr22585 at 07:38 PM : Oct 13, 2008

People like you are just so pathetic!

First of all, he has zero ARAB heritage (not that it should matter, except to a jerk like you).

Secondly, you say ''we still don''t have a black president.''--Is that wishful thinking on your part or what--I don''t get your point.

Because people like you who bring up race in the way that you have are the type of people to whom the ''one-drop rule'' is important--to you, if he has one drop of black blood, he''s a ''n-g-r'' (pathetic). Then you want to say ''we still don''t have a black president.'' But that''s why you hate him anyway. Hypocrite!

I am so very happy that my beautiful country has finally evolved beyond this race garbage.

PS--I''m white and my familily has been here since about 1645.

92% black vote for Obama. This election has created the situation where a black supporting a black in ANYTHING is seen as racist, and that in itself...is racist.

The race is main issue in the Election 08. If 65% White vote fo McCain, he will win

White against white and black unite. So Obama win

Posted by Timmothy8 at 07:13 PM : Oct 13, 2008

I''m going to assume that you are young and give you a break on this. Otherwise, I would have to say that you are very ignorant.

The reason that I say that is because it has been decades (if not OVER a century) since the majority of black American have voted for Republicans.

It has been a very long time since the ''party of Lincoln'' has been in favor of anything for black Americans.

Quite a long time since they have been for anyone who wasn''t a very wealthy person, actually--black OR white.

THAT is the reason that Obama is getting the poll results. Middle class white Americans are tired of being ignored by the Republican party.

I almost hope that Obama does win. Then, four years from now when our economy is once again in shambles and our enemies around the world are closing in as a result of bumbling and inept leftist foreign policy, there will be no doubt as to where the blame lies.

I like this:

McCain''''s remarks on health care in his speech today are worth highlighting: %u201CI will provide every single American family with a $5000 refundable tax credit to help them purchase insurance. Workers who already have health care insurance from their employers will keep it and have more money to cover costs. Workers who don''''t have health insurance can use it to find a policy anywhere in this country to meet their basic needs.%u201D

This works for me. I''''m not sure how he''''s going to pay for it... but I think that clarification makes it a good plan to me. Everyone will have equal opportunity and everyone gets an equal amount for that opportunity.

Posted by justsurfing at 06:31 PM : Oct 13, 2008

Unfortunately, it''s only a tax CREDIT and he is going to tax what your employer pays for your health benefits. A lot of top economists have come out against it. Google it for more research.

It''s been 26 years since Bradley ran.

There may still be some residual effect, but I doubt that it''s anywhere near what it was back then. Times have changed, thank God.

ACORN is a ORGANIZATION that is very much into getting all the tax money they can from the goverment and giving it to those who don''t work and don''t plan on working they think we owe them a living. Obama has had some dealings with this organization and did pay them to work on voter reg. for his campaing. Do I think Obama told them to break the law while doing the voter reg. NO I DO NOT THINK THAT. Do I think Obama has very bad judgement for asking this orgaization to do voter reg. and paying them YES. He had to know some of the problems with this group even me here in Oklahoma knew some of their probelms and we don''t even have one of their offices here. What I see is that this is just another example of poor judgement on Obama''s side. It is very plain, you don''t have to think very hard to see his poor judgement. Lets see Ayers friend yes, does Obama believe what Ayers does no I don''t think so but poor judgement. Wright, example, Reko Obama even said this was a stupid thing he did, voting present poor judgement or maybe like of judgement not making up his mind. Is he right for President, but he is not what a lot on these boards are saying. He is just a guy who give a good speach has poor judgement and thinks working America should support those who wish not to work. That is all. Nothing but bad judgement.

bflong- First off your statement that people didn''t vote cause they were working and hourly job. Surprise that is why the polls open at 7:00am and close at what 8:00pm. Next you state that some areas had long lines and others did not, well lets see could in be that there are more people voting in the areas with long lines. I think I would take this up with my state election commission. I would blame my own elected officals for this they are the ones controlling your state election. If yo think they are doing a bad job well you have two options: 1. Elected some new ones. 2. Run for the position yourself and change it. Very easy. I don''t go along with all these so and so cheated cause he didn''t let people vote or so and so cheated cause he had people register non qualified people. The laws are very clear in both of these cases and as we see these laws are being followed with the investigation of ACORN. People have to realize that if someone loses they lost because they were not the ones America wanted in that position. If they win that is the one America wants. I may disagree with who we chose but it is the voters who chose. But you know what I vote so I got the right to raise He** about the person who get elected. I raised and still raising He** about Bush. Get over it no one cheated in the last two election and no one is this time. Some may try and seems some are, but I don''t think they will get by with it in amount of numbers.

Registration fraud is NOT voter fraud. There will be many more citizens, ones that don''t belong to country clubs or who watch Faux News, that will be denied their legal right to vote than there will be that vote illegally. Here in Wisconsin we were originally told hundreds voted illegally in 2004.

In the end it was 4, and 2 of them claimed to vote for GW twice - once in Wisconsin and once in Illinois. So it was a wash. Meanwhile in inner city polling places hundreds stopped waiting in long lines and didn''t vote because their hourly jobs made it impossible.

Meanwhile North and West in the wealthy suburbs maximum waiting times were 20 minutes.

I look at the President as our country''s boss for each of us. Obama is the type of boss I loved and would work twice as hard for, while McCain and especially his (I love to fire people) running mate where the ones I lived in fear of making one mistake would cost me my job. I will vote for Obama!!
