Comments on: Can Voters Be Objective About The Economy?
CBS News' Kathy Frankovic: Assessments Of Presidents, Policy Exhibit A Partisan Cast
- The Big Lie happened in Iowa and was told by Obama who would later claim victory (albeit: the slimmest of victories, only a third of the vote) in that caucus. He said it was the only legislation he passed. That is a Big Lie. This was in response to a discussion on leaks in Illinois of nuclear plant groundwater contamination. He, Obama, lied to a crowd in Iowa in response to nuclear plant regulation concerns. He boasted on the campaign trail, telling a crowd in Iowa in December, that it was the only nuclear legislation that I passed. I just did that last year, he said, to murmurs of approval. A look at the path his legislation took tells different story. Mr. Obama eventually rewrote it to reflect changes sought by Senate Republicans, Exelon (who gave big money to Obama) and nuclear regulators. The new bill removed language mandating prompt reporting and simply offered guidance to regulators, whom it charged with addressing the issue of unreported leaks. He never passed the legislation, and he was never quizzed about it. He began basing his campaign on things he did not do, but said he did. To base your first win on The Big Lie is to have the rest of your wins cast in that shadow of your First Big Lie. Judgment is critical to Senator Obama. He has no bills or legislation of his own passed, no lengthy time in the US Senate, and, maybe just his veracity as his only virtue. But where is that good judgment and veracity if you told The Big Lie first?

- Hmm.. a solution that benefits ALL that can be STARTED GENERATING POWER TODAY or a "solution" that costs BILLIONS UP FRONT, DESTROYS VAST AREAS, benefits a HANDFUL of CORPORATIONS with MAYBE a "TRICKLE DOWN" to the masses in COUPLE OF DECADES.
part 2
Yep, REAL choice there.
EMPTY PROMISES AND BANKRUPTCY to the OIL CORPORATIONS or DOING SOMETHING TODAY and ENERGY INDEPENDENCE for the FUTURE. - Reply to this comment
- Hmm...
Which billion dollar "SOLUTION" makes MORE SENSE?
1 - Burning MASSIVE amounts of CONSTRUCTION energy, destroying an entire ecosystem, possible earthquakes from tectonic destabilization, HUGE TARGETS for TERRORISTS to attack, Billions in TAXPAYER SUBSIDIES for cost overruns and the FURTHER CONCENTRATION of WEALTH into the hands of a FEW INTERNATIONAL corporations for the POSSIBILITY that a "COUPLE OF DECADES LATER" a SMALL trickle of DIRTY OIL can be SOLD for A COUPLE of HUNDRED DOLLARS PER GALLONS to Americans. While a "broken" electric grid provides erratic Iraqi style power.
2- MILLIONS of "SUBSIDIZED" FUEL CELL, SOLAR and WIND home GENERATORS being installed STARTING THIS YEAR and increasing as individual unit costs for manufacturing in MASS drop - carried by an IMPROVED DECENTRALIZED electric grid which is LESS VULNERABLE TO ATTACK because of the decentralization and CHEAPER due to the ADDED POWER GENERATION contributed by those MILLIONS of RENEWABLE RESOURCE HOME GENERATORS.
As an ADDED BENEFIT - ELECTRIC AND FUEL CELL CARS using little to NO OIL reducing CONSUMPTION which LOWERS the PRICE of OIL and DELAYS FURTHER AND GREATER SHORTAGES. - Reply to this comment

Sorry, NOT INTERESTED in being an OIL JUNKIE.
The mantra that THE "ONLY" SOLUTION is to DESTROY EVERYTHING for YOUR "OIL FIX" is NOT MY solution.
Even your oil KING GWB has admitted it''s a FINITE RESOURCE and it would be better SOONER rather than LATER to USE SOMETHING ELSE before his PUPPET-MASTERS slapped him down for saying that.
The SOONER we get RID of THOSE PARASITE OIL PUSHERS the better.
Go peddle your 2 tier "SOLUTIONS" to the THIRD WORLD!
OH, they''ve ALREADY CAUGHT ON and ARE using renewables PROFITABLY?
Guess you''ll have to go back to FRIGHTENING the gullible ELSEWHERE.
Isn''t "JACK" one of the DEVIL''S pseudonyms? - Reply to this comment
- Homespunlady- Your solutiins are meaningless- the liberal "Green" solution will bankrupt you and this country- If oil companies do not make profit they will deminish the oil and raise the price- it is a catch 22- but not drilling for oil in our country because of "green'' is destructive in the long run- the big picture you seem to miss and do not see. There needs to be a balance- and if Democrats are against any right solution- like drilling- you will then need to burn your own house down for firewood and then they will tax you on that, too. wake up.

- If this nation has to spend BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars on energy
- I''d rather it go to HONDA for their DECENTRALIZED power solution. Fuel cell HOME power GENERATORS that also provide power to charge their FUEL CELL CARS.
-or FREE installation of SOLAR SHINGLES that look like regular shingles but POWER HOMES with a RENEWABLE RESOURCE that BY THE WAY is INCREASING for some ODD reason and probably is the source of a LOT of the "global warming" the Bush administration until recently DENIED WAS REAL.
There ARE farmers and ranchers GETTING PAID to have large WIND GENERATORS in their fields - at least THAT CAN''T be moved to Dubai - although it''s probably FOREIGN COMPANIES that will own the wind generators if AMERICANS don''t get busy. - Reply to this comment

Where have you been. You used to be on this site all the time talking about how Hillary had this election in the bag, and how Obama had no chance.
You seem to not be posting as much anymore. What happened....???

Oh I''m still here, Sweetie! Did you miss me that much?
Yeah, sad isn''t it...Hillary Clinton had the most support and your DNC oligarchy APPOINTED Obama to the nomination! Sad isn''t it when the RNC looks more democrataic than the DNC!
Screw the DNC...they can go hunt for votes! - Reply to this comment
- PS Like isn''''t it objectively accepted that new small businesses create the majority of new jobs, and that therefore tax cuts and regulation breaks which optimize the success rates for new businesses is key to creating new jobs? And isn''''t that why Barack and McCain''''s positions are basically the same in that respect - Dems support tax cuts, GOP support government spending on start up support and loan programs.
McCain''''s been trying to tell people that his plan is different from Barack''''s but I don''''t think he realizes that their plans are both the same. Barack tried to tell him that, but probably in the first debate/townhall you''''ll hear McCain try to make that same assertion LOL
Hard to ever know whether he''''s intentionally trying to distort people''''s stances or whether he''''s really that clueless just like with the Sunni/Shiite thing . . .

You mean like the thing where Obama couldn''t figure out where Austwitcz is? And the fact that his Uncle that he pulled out from under the bus who is a typical white person, never crossed the Rhine River into the COUNTRY where Austwitcz is???
Nice comparison there, SamTheTwit!!! - Reply to this comment

you forgot one - dismantling and burning your OWN house for firewood to keep warm.
Sheesh even SEAGULLS know enough to NOT poop in their OWN NEST.
NOT ONE of your "solutions" doesn''t involve BILLIONS in cost and TAXPAYER SUBSIDIES - also known as MORE CORPORATE WELFARE PAYMENTS to BIG BUSINESS.
EVERY one of those "solutions" is DESTRUCTIVE to some part of our environment and needs the ALREADY WEALTHY to "handle it" as well as PROFIT and CONTROL OF the PRICES the PEASANTS WILL PAY to live in a WORSE OFF WORLD.
NOTICED NOT ONE involves RENEWABLE RESOURCES or encouragement DECENTRALIZATION of CONTROL over ENERGY generation such as solar, wind, tide, Brown''s gas, fuel cell technology, etc. which would make this nation MORE INDEPENDENT and SAFER.
The OSAMA BIN LADENs of the world CAN hit LARGE CENTRALIZED INDUSTRIAL POWER GENERATION - it''s a LOT HARDER to TAKE THIS NATION DOWN if EVERY HOME and business building was built to GENERATE and conserve that power instead!
but you argue - THERE''S NO PROFIT IN THAT!
- MY ALL POWERFUL, GOLDEN PARACHUTE, BIG BUSINESS couldn''t RIP OFF consumers and DRAIN THE TAXPAYERS for ALL THEY HAVE if that happened!!!!
Too bad - Americans ARE WAKING UP and hopefully WILL opt for the INDEPENDENT SOLUTION rather than SERFDOM TO BIG ENERGY. - Reply to this comment
- There''s not only a WEALTH GAP there is an ATTITUDE GAP as well that come as a matching "accessory"!!
For the Bottom 95 percent the PROOF there are SERIOUS PROBLEMS in this nation is as close as the NEAREST gas pump and GROCERY STORE.
For the WEALTHY TOP percentage that DON''T pump their own gas or DO send the illegal servant(s) to shop for their groceries the "OFFICIAL" SKEWED STATISTICS are their proof.
Yes, there ARE some "wealthy" that see the rising prices and maybe even "have a friend" that "IS SUFFERING"
- sorta like those racial comments of the past
- it is NOW turned to acceptable to use the SAME comments as "CLASSIST" statements while EXCUSING the INEXCUSABLE.
The questions I have are WHY and HOW did THIS HAPPEN??
Was it the advent of PAPERLESS VOTING that INSURED UNTRACEABLE RESULTS
-or MEDIA CONTROL so tight that the CORRUPT NO LONGER FEARED being FOUND OUT
or systematic "dumbing down" of the general population while slowly "separating" the classes
- or improvements in CONTROL of the MASSES so those in power were ASSURED that NO MATTER HOW bad things got there would be NO REVOLT?
My guess is it was a combination of all of these and careful planning that ENSURED that GULLIBLE Americans would be the reason and means of their own destruction.
Billionaire OSAMA BIN LADEN could see that and TAUNTED this nation about it.
What is it that HE KNOWS and the AMERICAN PEOPLE did NOT SEE??
