The future of "Staycation" is here, now. Everything is connected to OIL. Period. You do not need an over paid economist to figure this out. The price of EVERYTHING you buy will go up with the price of oil. Simple Econ101...Working families have limited funds. If the price of energy increases, that leaves less money for other expenditures, again simple economics...total income vs total expenditure.

This is great! They%u2019re finally noticing that consumers draw the line at solid gold toilets. Hopefully, airline destinations will suffer as well and all those theme park lines/ticket prices will start to thin out. Pay $60 to stand in 12 lines for 4 hours? Yeah, right.

Why don''t the airlines strip off all the paint on planes-this was a favorite trick during the last gas crunch many years ago when they determined that all that paint weighed so many hundreds of pounds it was costing them much added fuel and most lines reverted to plain aluminum paintless planes.

Seems to me that forcing more and more people to put their luggage into the already ridiculously overcrowded overhead bins is stupid. You are just shifting the fuel costs associated with baggage weight from the cargo hold to the overhead bins. Of course, no one said American Airlines was the brightest bulb in the industry. Next they will be complaining about how delays have increased because of the time it takes for passengers to stow their bags and then get them at landing. Hmm, is American going to start charging us for how long it takes us to get on and off the plane? Buzzz! That''ll be $5 for taking longer than 2 minutes, sir!

With a couple exceptions, airlines are mis-managed. There are also too many airlines, too many routes and the tickets are under-priced. Who among us would run a business at a loss. If fuel costs are going to remain at current levels or increase, there is little choice other than some airlines folding or cutting back to accommodate only those who can afford to fly.

Not to worry though, we have an abundance of business whiz kids who can and will figure this out in short order.

lets get the oil companies next. See if you stop giving a company money you can hurt them, and you can still get what you need. Southwest kept fares lower and are doing quite well.
