Mishandled. She should have been given a pat-down and allowed to have the female agent to view her body jewelry.
Posted by httpwwwnews

No, she shoulda left the jewelry at the tattoo/piercing parlor where she got them from, or if she had to have them THIS bad- drive or take a bus, there is no law on the books that requires people to take an airplane to get from point A to point B, if you don''t like the ride/policies/wait time, danger, falling apart planes, drunk or idiot pilots who take wrong runways, or being crammed in like sheep with peanuts for a ''meal'' then get in your car and DRIVE.

THATS the problem! the federal Govt and so called HOMELAND security is behind it, both are bumbling idiots as if Katrina wasnt a clue.
Ever notice that HITLER made many references to fatherland or homeland security, ours is based on similar tactics used by the nazis to control the Germans.

I try not to judge, however human nature makes that difficult sometimes. I have been in churches where the preacher and some members will tell you that piercings and tattoos will *** you to hell-eternal. I personally don''''t feel that way, and don''''t try and force my beliefs on others. You have the right to believe whatever you want. I don''''t care if you sit in a bathtubb of shaving cream worshipping a bucket of kumquats, that''''s your right. Posted by Klingon69

Gotta like those klingons with a sense of humor. ;-)

Let me start by saying that I am a former TSA officer. The above response is one of the most ignorantly written statements that I have ever read. You have proven that you are not knowledgeable on who the TSA is governed by. The TSA is a division of the Dept of Homeland Security, a federal government agency. There are no corporate CEOs involved. Background checks, drug testing, credit checks, decision making and reasoning abilities testing, physicals, and interviews are conducted before there is any consideration for employment. I worked along side active duty and retired military members, law enforcement officers, and persons who had degrees ranging from Associates to Masters in numerous concentrations. I refuse to allow anyone to believe that we all came from trailer parks and ghettos. I do not agree with every rule and regulation, however I can appreciate that the goal is to keep our traveling public safe. The regulations prevent a screener from allowing a passenger to "flash" them to clear an alarm, to protect the screener and the DHS from becoming victim to a sexual harassment or assault suit. You should continue to drive to your vacation destinations. The ignorance that you exude is not welcomed in the airport by the TSA, other passengers, nor other airport staff. You may want to check with your coworkers, neighbors, and even family members; you may be offending them as well.

The funniest statement I''ve read in a long time;

I don''''t care if you sit in a bathtubb of shaving cream worshipping a bucket of kumquats, that''''s your right.

We all have daily routines. Sometimes when you do something regularly, you don''''t think about things you do for yourself personally, affecting other facets of your life. It''''s like a guy getting a tattoo on his forearm being told he''''d have to wear long sleeve shirts if he wanted to remain working for a car dealership.

The company I work for will not allow exposed tattoos.

Klingon69 - does that rule apply to you, also. Or, are you just despensing medication for those Bible thumpers ?

Metal detectors only find ferrous metals (like iron and steel). The reason people can wear rings and other jewelry (including piercings) without trouble is that they are non-ferrous (gold and silver).

If you want to avoid trouble, pick a metal that will pass through the inspection without triggering the metal detector. Gold and silver.

TSA--Thousands Standing Around--Enjoy your flight... or better yet, don''t...Stop flying! I refuse to fly--and I resent having tax dollars wasted on security at airports...every cent for air travel should be reflected in the ticket price...including the cost of the FAA.

The nipple rings were not allowed...the belly button ring was...shows you just how thorough these TSA jokers are...simple-minded scum...

Based upon the passenger%u2019s photograph, I seriously question the TSA agent%u2019s taste.

If the TSA backs off, all of the AlQaeda will be sporting nipple rings.

She should have been given a private visual inspection by two females. Removing them seems cruel and unusual, unless she had box-cutters hanging there.

TSA is made up of two primary groups. Young people right out of high school and 40+ people retired military or prior service. I worked as a supervisor and the people in this story clearly did not follow established procedures. I take offense to those that claim TSA hires "lower society people". This is simply not the case. Many 40 that had prior military were officers in the military when they were in. As for me, I did not fall into either group as I was in my later 20''s with a Masters degree. I ended up there due to down turn in the aviation industry following the dot com bust and 9/11. Yes, there was much incompetence due to the agency placing the wrong people in the wrong positions. I saw men with years of experience, education, and leadership skills working for someone that only had a high school diploma. TSA hiring was flawed when it first started up and still is. Another problem is the agency hired many former prison guards with the idea these people would make excellent screeners. While I was there, we had many problems with these people treating passengers as if they were in prison. Therefore, I can see these problems occurring. Last, I earned 50,000 a year in a city that paid on average 30-35,000. So the pay really is not that low.

Someone explain to me why someone would have their body pierced in any manner, why don''t they have their lip cut and stretched so they can wear a saucer in it then they would really look stupid.

So glad that the TSA and airport security are right on top of nipple rings. I sure would hate to get poked in the eye by one of those things. Didn''t we all learn from Janet''s "wardrobe malfunction" just how dangerous those things are?

On the other hand, it is really easy to get past security (without being searched) to a flight you don''t even have a ticket for. I know because I''ve done it. A few key words and presto, they will actually help you through to where you want to be.

Most people think we still have a right to privacy. However, in this age of cameras in public areas, x-ray and other see-through cameras and equipment that watch us and watch those watching us, it''s clear that the government will do whatever it deems necessary and the public''s right to privacy be damned.
Where is the line that says, "This far and no further"? If there''s one thing government has a shortage of it''s clearly common sense. While I don''t agree with the trend of body piercing, it seems this could have been handled more tactfully than it was.

"You can''t tell me that the majority of Americans in this country don''t have a "Go F*ck yourself" attitude towards their fellow countrymen.

I believe this to be a bit of an overstatement, alexma. Yes, we do all need to take care of ourselves, but I would hope we have enough compassion for someone that truely is needy to help them.

I don''t advocate giving money to folks I believe will spend it on alcohol. On the other hand, I''ll support an organization that will help feed them and get them away from that environment.

You may be right. Maybe we are getting more cynical, but I personally don''t fit the description you painted and take exception. I suspect in our heart of hearts, not many of us likes to see others in pain.

Although, stupidity is painful.
