Iran has been a democracy before, it is just corrupt like many other nations. The reason that it's hard for the U.S. to step in on this election is because of what we did in their very first democratic election in 1953. We orchestrated a coup (CIA) and overthrew a decent leader for a maniacal one all because he would do what we wanted in terms of oil revenues (He ruled for 26 years). It's kind of hard to step in this time and say we really want to help. (No really trust us this time)
