Comments on: GOP Gears Up For 2012
Politico: A Wide Field Of Hopefuls, Among Them Palin, Romney, Huckabee And Jindal, But All Remain Mum On Possible Run
- Repubs need to look at what worked for Obama''s campaign, and emulate it. If it works, don''t knock it - steal it!! As far as candidates go, I''d prefer that they keep their opinions to themselves and listen to the country for a change! We don''t need drastic change (though we''re going to get it!) - we need common sense change in the right direction, whether it be left or right politically! After they know what the people want, they can make a better judgment on where they stand and what they need to do to make a creditable run for President.

- Here is a suggestion for the GOP. You want to do better, then do as you say. The Republicans have been really good at railing against bad behavior while indulging in orgies and bad behavior while they are doing it. Bullitin: When you make laws and bash certain behaviors, then that means YOU not just everybody else. It is why Republicans now have NO credibility.

(Newser) %u2013 MSNBC host Joe Scarborough dropped what he calls an F-bomb on Morning Joe today, letting the profanity slip when describing Rahm Emanuel''s hard-charging style as %u201Cflipping people off and screaming F-you at the top of their lungs.%u201D Which might be inconsequential, writes Glenn Greenwald for Salon, except that Scarborough has relentlessly railed against profanity on American airwaves and pushed for strict FCC penalties against violators. - Reply to this comment
- If these people would spend their energy and resources into working with the president elect and for the American people instead of beating the bushes for campaign money and trying to organize a campaign; then MAYBE they would be worth considering in 2012.
The fact that they couldn''t even wait a few days without trying to kickstart the entire election cycle again shows where their interests lie: retaining or getting back power, money and influence, not the good of this nation.
This is a real solid agument for term limits. - Reply to this comment
- Before the Republicans even contemplate the odds of retaking control of either the White House or Congress they had better figure out what they stand for. War hobbies and profligate spending are not ideologies. They once were the party of small government and minimal governmental intrusion into the lives of citizens. Like it or not, they at least then had that defined ideology. What are they now? Small government? Hah - look at how eager McCain and Bush were to fund that bailout and look at the size of the national debt. Minimal intrusion? Hah revisited - look at all the controversies regarding wiretaps and other surveillance. No, the Repubs have some serious soul searching to do before they even start thinking about a revival (and I don''t mean a religious revival since that boat alone won''t carry them to the promised land). Right now they are a party bereft of ideas and vision. And all of this is coming from someone who thinks Obama is a naive socialist who''s going to seriously damage our economy far beyond what Bush has amazingly managed to accomplish.

- Every one of these filty Republicans, with the possible exception of Jindal, has a role in getting the U.S. into the ditch we''re in. If these guys think we won''t remember that, if they think we will ever turn to them or their failed policies for answers again, if they think we want to hear from their preachers and right wing spinners and their "Pro-Life" supporters again, god I''m feeling nauseous at the prospect. They got nothing, they are nothing, and Obama and the Democrats are going to pull this nation out of the quagmire, so they will have even less when the time comes.

- Outside the Fascist South the Republican Party couldn''t win an election for Dog Catcher right now! They truly need to do some work on what was once a national party. They are completely out of touch with people in this country!
