As a Military wife of an Active Duty Soldier of 20 years who is currently deployed again. I could relate to this personally and would appreciate a public figure who will make this his/her platform. We face many challenges in the Military and as dependents.

I applaud Mrs. Obama and hope she will continue with this platform regardless if her husband is elected or not. It is a huge undertaking and it is not going to be an easy task, for we are many. I also hope, she will motivate others to assist her and spotlight us as Military family members. We face numerous struggles and huge sacrifices daily, especially with ongoing lengthy and repetitive deployments.

Please, do NOT think I am complaining, for I am not. I am an EXTREMELY PROUD MILITARY WIFE! "I Pledge Allegiance to the "Flag" and my "Heart" to my "Soldier" who "Defends it!

In my opinion, Civilians tend to forget and take Military Members and family dependents for granted as do most Politicians. They have no and/or little if any personal experience to relate to us.

A War is ongoing and America forgets it''s own Military and Dependents because the War is not ongoing on American soil. "Therefore, America is not at war! It is American Troops and their families who are at War for America." "Land of the Free, BECAUSE of the Brave"

If a public figure makes Military Families his/her platform, than I say... Thank you, Mrs. OBama and What took you so long?"

Btw, did you get the part where it says,

"Mar 1, 2007: Introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman Adam Smith."

Doesn''t sound like Obama to me.

Funny your post appeared in the middle of fifteen items out of more than a hundred introduced, or co-sponsored by Mr, Obama.

It is typical that even in the middle of the evidence to the contrary of your posts, you still refuse to see them.

BrianBWB-Do you know what Obama''''s GLOBAL POVERTY ACT is?

Yes, I do, and I get the bill, rather than an editorial.

The Global Poverty Act is a bill currently in the U.S. Congress. The bill is co-sponsored by 84 representatives and 30 senators. It does not allocate any funding.

The Global Poverty Act would require the U.S. President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.

Several key organizations have been lobbying for the Global Poverty Act, including Bread for the World, The Borgen Project, RESULTS and the National Wildlife Federation.[citation needed] The bill passed the Foreign Affairs Committee in July.

Timeline

* Mar 1, 2007: Introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Congressman Adam Smith.
* Jul 31, 2007: Scheduled for debate in the House.
* Sep 25, 2007: Passed in the House of Representatives by voice vote.
* Sep 26, 2007: Received in the Senate and read twice; referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations.
* Feb 13, 2008: Committee on Foreign Relations. Ordered to be reported with amendments favorably.

You gotta laugh. Because of promotion quotas in the military based on U.S. population percentages, white males have to be in combat arms to get promoted to senior levels as quickly as blacks and females who hold administrative MOS''s. Blacks and females know they can sit in a nice air-conditioned office somewhere CONUS and still get promoted without all that crazy deployment business. This is why most Iraqi war casualties are white males. I%u2019m sure Michelle will sweeten the pot even more for her own kind. Just look what wonderful things Pat Schroeder did for our military retirees.

BrianBWB-Do you know what Obama''s GLOBAL POVERTY ACT is? Go to http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=302222641317480 and read about his plan to redistribute the wealth on a global level, tax Americans and make us accountable to the UN.I agree with a previous post-I''d much rather have a moderate Republican president who has a record of working with both parties than the MOST LIBERAL senator, who is unproven, and an unchecked House and Senate. We cannot forget how unprepared we were for 9/11,and Powell''s endorsement of Obama was definitely not strong. We already know that Hillary and Biden don''t think he''s prepared for the job,so let him go back to the senate and prove that he can actually do something besides voting "present" 130 times.

"Give me some data to convince me." Posted by codymac4

If "being against dumb wars", the most recent of which has damaged our country to the brink of collapse is not enough, then nothing is, but here are a few more.

Passed legislation

Global Poverty Act (S.2433)
Legislative Transparency and Accountability Act (S. 230)
Lugar-Obama Nonproliferation Legislation Signed into Law by the President

Introduced legislation

S.CON.RES.25 : A concurrent resolution condemning the recent violent actions of the Government of Zimbabwe against peaceful opposition party activists and members of civil society.

Judging from the irrelevant vitriol you have previously posted, it is hardly likely you would vote for Mr. Obama, even if he agreed with every word you said.

We know the real deal.

Again it is clear you don''t care, as you will vote for the continuation of policies that have us on the brink of economic collapse, as you will vote for McSame, who is trying to hide his original "stay the course" agenda with some lipstick.

But this is not a football game, but let us assume your point for a moment.

So you say the Pac didn''t work too well for the ''boys?

Then what should they do, keep him, or trade up?

Bush certainly didn''t work too well for the vast majority of Americans, and McSame wants to continue Bush''s policies.

I say trade up, no more Bush, no McSame.

The only alternative at this point is Mr. Obama.

Let me start by saying that I voted against George W. Bush in both elections and in both elections I predicted he would lead this country to ruin.

Now I will be voting for John McCain in November for many reasons...including having the insight to recognize that our country is better off with a moderate Republican than a far left hardcore liberal like Obama (with a Democratic controlled Congress).

As for Barack Hussein Obama...once Barack, as Commander-In-Chief, is given our countries top military secrets... he will find a way to give the information to his "brothers" in the middle east. For anyone that doesn''''t think this is possible...think again.

How soon Americans everywhere forget how unprepared we were for 9/11. Intellectually we could not accept the real danger of such an attack. Now we are unprepared to accept the real threat that the next attack to destroy America will come from within....that threat is Barack Obama.

This country has sold out common sense and intelligence in their efforts to prove that a black man can become elected President. Not measuring Barack Obama''s character and political allegiance by his association with people like Rev. Wright, Rev. Flegler, Tony Rezko, and William Ayers or organizations as corrupt as ACORN... is unforgivable.

Obama will finish the job of ruining this country started by George W. Bush...but Barack will prove to be the catalyst to the final fall of America and the ending of the American way of life.

Army Times Poll just released has McCain preferred by 65% of the military (active or retired). Obama preferred by 88% of the Black military.

So, who is she meeting with?

Instead of making a big deal of Joe the Plumber, McCain should have hightlighed GI Joe the Iraq and Afghanistan soldier, returning, veteran, and others in the military who have been so badly abused by this administration. This would have been a far more political boost for this veteran who ''suffered'' so much in the Viet Nam war. What was he thinking?
