Speakinup21,

It did not trickle-down with Reagan. He stole from the social security trust fund and increased the social security ceiling from $30K to $90K (at the time) and stole from that to cover the tax reductions. The social security trust fund is filled with nothing but I.O.U.s and it will become a problem when the baby boomers start to retire in larger numbers around 2015.

The fact is NO GOP PERSON has ever cut taxes. They''ve only deferred them to make themselves look good, but to cause problems in the future when they are long gone.

Give me a break! Lehmans CEO received $430M in salary payments over the last 8 years. His company is bankrupt. Golden parachutes are everywhere.

Nurses, firefighters, policemen, teachers, etc. are the bankbones of making a society function and although they are not rich, we need them more than a CEO or ball player or etc., etc., who joined a company after it was already successful.

I have no problem with wealth, but I''m sick of the whining from the rich.

We have a HUGE BUDGET DEFICIT!

If somebody HERE doesn''t start to pay it back, you will not have to discuss the American Dream. It will have been given to a foreign entity to cover our debt obligations.

Latrocinor,

Wealth redistribution is what the GOP has been doing for the last 30 years. Trickled-down means you give everything to the rich and it will somehow drop down to the rest of us.

I do not agree with you but that does not mean I think you are ENTIRELY wrong.

Let me put out a suggestion.

"Not ALL Rich people are the same."

Some are Scrooges BUT most are not. Let us start there and see what we can do with this notion?

I respect your opinion. But, it is McCain/Palin who I do not trust. McCain has had to sell himself to the James Dobson group. He''s had to prove himself to the right wingers. They will expect something if he wins. We can''t take anymore of what they are dishing.

IT IS WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION!

The goal of the GOP has been to take us back to the time before The New Deal. They''ve done their best to get the middle class and poor to fight with each other, while the rich leave fewer and fewer crumbs for both.

I don''''t see obama as someone that can represent us all (Conservatives as well as progressives). I''''m not sure McCain can eith - but he''''s much closer to the center than Obama from my perspecive.

I don''t think this is true. He talks like a Centrist, but his voting record is very conservative, very right wing.

That is the difference between rhetoric and reality.

Latrocinor,

Wealth redistribution is what the GOP has been doing for the last 30 years. Trickled-down means you give everything to the rich and it will somehow drop down to the rest of us.

What has happened?

We have a widening gap between the rich and everyone else related to income.

The rich pay less proportionate taxes compared to the rest of us. Warren Buffett pays less proportionate taxes than his secretary and he only takes standard deductions!

The middle class and poor have salaries that are not keeping up with inflation and they are needing to take out debt and debt and debt in order to make ends meet.

Children, the vast majority of the poor, from every statistical measure have seen the worst situation in the last 20 years and they are supposed to be our future.

worked for Bill Ayers for seven years. I see where Obama learned his speaking skills and charisma from Bill Ayers and his other Chicago mentors.

Posted by drcool4u

sources for that charge please? or is it just another attempt to make sitting on an education board a support for terrorists? and if you say obama made his political start at ayres'' house you''d be in error about that too. he started at one of the motel chains.

how do you make that with working for ayres? he''s a professor of education at chicago university and you might as well list all the others on annenburg''s board too. cause they''re working for ayres too.

obama is a political opportunist that''s true. as ALL politicians are and just because you accept aupport from people doesn''t mean you embrace their entire philosophy. ayres, wright, or the guy who hates the United States and wants to secede from the union. (palin''s guy) remember him?

so it''s a secessionist america hating republican vice-president candidate?

Speakinup21,
I don''''t think all McCain supporters are racists, but I still can''''t understand how anyone would vote for the GOP after all that has happened. I''''m struggling to understand it.
Posted by whatithink10

I suggest taking each so called "truth" one at a time.

So all those things that have happened - did they really happen or is there bias and maybe some story telling? Is there a partial truth? Is what happened relevant today? It usually leads to forgiveness and reconciliation if the process is followed to it''s p[roper conclusion.

This is a tough place to chase truth and justice because so many injured people will start freaking out.

nolle61,

Could you answer my question, please?

Also, there is nothing fair about a fairtax. This is another way to steal from the middle class/poor and give it to the rich.

It is insane.

What is worse is that you actually care about it.
Posted by Latrocinor

What is worse is that he actually thinks this excrement is clever enough or cogent enough to warrant us having to LOOK at it again. It''s like walking through a pasture- if you''ve seen one cow pie, you''ve seen them all. But I''ll bet YOU think they''re the height of literacy and wit. You''re half right.

Speakinup21,

I wish it was so simple. I wish each of us could get a chance to walk a few miles in the other''s shoes. It might make things a bit clearer.
