But this is a competition and everything is relative - how''s Barack going to respond - the only time he took a hard anti-war line he got battered by the GOP. Ever since he''s copied all of their policies . . .

For the women in this country, regardless of their race who are voting for McCain because a female vice president would be ground breaking, I say this: Condoleeza Rice has served in the second highest position in the US Government. Why throw the whole country under the bus to put an unqualified woman in the third most important position in the country?

Labrat,

It seems you think I said something about the military not supporting Obama. What I said was that women seemed to be going over to McCain simply because he picked Palin.

I am pro-Obama. I feel that he is a far better choice for all reasons, including military ones. The fact that, as you stated, there was such a strong military presence supporting Obama in Denver shows that the military accepts him. I feel that there is less racism in the military than in the civilian population in the US.

PS Like a lot of blue-collar Hillary supporters seem angry at Democratic men such that they aren''t saying one group is better than the other - that theme comes up again and again in these comments . . .

See to me, that sounds like rationalizations from somebody in the two ''core groups'' of Obama''s that I cited before.

White middle-class women I don''t see talking like that . . .

Palin has been honest about what she doesn''t know. When asked last month about the vice presidency, she said, "I still can''t answer that question until someone answers for me: What is it exactly that the VP does every day?" When asked about Iraq, she said, "I haven''t really focused much on the war in Iraq."

Selecting Sarah Palin, who was touted all summer by Rush Limbaugh, is no way to attract most women, including die-hard Clinton supporters. Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton. Her down-home, divisive and deceptive speech did nothing to cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female, a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing and a platform that opposes pretty much everything Clinton''s candidacy stood for -- and that Barack Obama''s still does. To vote in protest for McCain/Palin would be like saying, "Somebody stole my shoes, so I''ll amputate my legs."

---"For a women like Palin to dictate that a young woman (an innocent girl in her early teens) to have no choice over her own body... but to bear a child that was was forced on her by either incest or rape is just anti-human,,,,Where is the human dignity or compassion???"---

She said in a debate that she could only speak for what she personally would do, not what other women ought to do.

Maybe it''s Dems who are ''enslaving'' you for lack of a better word. Abortion can''t be abolished unless the Democratic majority Congress lets it happen by appointing a pro-life US Supreme Court Justice. Only they never give you full and fair disclosure - ought you not be asking yourself why that is?
