I don''t know if support for the war is any different than 6 months ago. American citizens are more concerned right now with putting food on their tables and paying their mortgages and wondering why credit card companies are consistently raising interest rates when you pay your bills on time, and the cost of higher education let alone putting gas in the car to go to work to pay all these bills.our economy sucks and our fine young men and women are loosing their lives and georgie boy thinks all is well.oh wait the litebulb just went on for georgie. we might have some rough times, from a speech this am in new york.

How does anybody in their right mind see kids throwing stones at abrams tanks and tell themselves: "My gawd.. those kids are evil."?

Who''s the coward, america? You''ve been infiltrating other people''s countries fer decades, calling it "heroism". Not even living there.. Just moving in? Murdering? And leaving. Tell me.. Whats the difference?

Is there any difference between surrender and choosing not to fight?

.
ANSWER
Same as the difference between "making love" and "rape"
Posted by mocaIeo

Not many people can pull off as good a piece of lateral logic! Went back thru the posts looking to find the core of this thread, & didn''t find much. But what I found led me to believe the avoice post was meant to communicate that there is no practical difference (altho there might be a virtual one).

But ''surrender'' means to give in as well as just give up. Question is: give in/up to what? Judging from partisan standpoints, my first thot wld be "give in to the terrorists." But there weren''t any when we arrived (at least that Saddam wld brook). That leaves give up: give up trying to clean up the mess we created. That, I might agree, is irresponsible.

So, as my fellow posters JERSupporter & JERSupporter might agree, we have to clearly establish the measures of success whose progressive attainment wld allow for staged pull-out.

The more apt question wld be: is there any difference between strategic pull-out & choosing not to fight. The answer wld entail a mature sense of responsibility.

Our effort to bring stability and democracy to Iraq is going better than it has in 2 years and the rabid Bush-haters couldn''t be more upset.

Surrender is their only plan. A bunch of whiners and quitters who hide their hate for America by cleverly masking it as "dissent".

Yup.. I''ve never liked the special forces idea either. The notion that fer some reason us going into foreign territories under cover of darkness in this machismo to the hilt secret missions somehow couldn''t be equated to terrorism.

Bases, not "basis"

"The Iranians laugh about the way Bush visits Iraq: in secret, unannounced visits to U.S. military bases under heavy guard.

Ahmadinejad enters in announced visits and rides through the streets of Baghdad with only Iraqis protecting him."

And you know what the really morbidly comical thing is? The "average" american thinks we''re there to help those people. To stop genocide.

"People change their minds and Bush did it for Palace Alert."

I"ve never known a lifelong coward to change his mind and become a hero overnight.

The pampered Bush is a coward to this day.

The Iranians laugh about the way Bush visits Iraq: in secret, unannounced visits to U.S. military basis under heavy guard.

Ahmadinejad enters in announced visits and rides through the streets of Baghdad with only Iraqis protecting him.

Is the United States moving toward military action with Iran? The resignation of the top U.S. military commander for the Middle East is setting off alarms that the Bush administration is intent on using military force to stop Iran''s moves toward gaining nuclear weapons... Here are six developments that may have Iran as a common thread.
1. [Admiral] Fallon''s resignation
2. Vice President Cheney''s peace trip
3. Israeli airstrike on Syria
4. Warships off Lebanon
5. Israeli comments
6.Israel''s war with Hezbollah
How much more war can this country support. This question is not amoral, but a financial one. Next, who better to take control and properly handle the situation of finances, current war and impending war.

"People change their minds and Bush did it for Palace Alert. He volunteered and was turned down buy his commander as he did not have enough hours to qualify."

--------------------

He knew he"d be turned down. That"s why he "volunteered."

That"s pretty obvious, from the fact he was in the TANG in the first place.

He was thinking how that would look when he entered politics later.
