Comments on: Texas May Be Huckabee's Last Stand
Politico: Advisers Say He May Not Go Beyond Texas, But Candidate Appears Intent On Going Forward
- I would note that Tuesday could also be the last stand for Hilary Clinton. Why does the media pick sides during elections, when its so much easier to just report the news. Many Texans will vote for Huckabee or Paul just to convince John McCain that there is no mandate for his goofy immigartion and Iraq policies. I hope these candidates drag this primary out until the convention. McCain will arrogantly ignore the fact that he''s only garnering votes of people who hate his oposition more than they hate him. Is that what our electoral process has come down too? We should all demand a nationwide primary, taking place on the same day, on a weekend, so that Citizens truly have some say in who we nominate, and so that small states cannot dictate who we the people can elect.

- That Mike Huckabee is still standing after all the intense hostility and unfair treatment by the Republican establishment and the conservative media . . .

Name one instance of unfair treatment of Huckabee -- rather, I find it astonishing nobody has taken him to task for his subtle racism expressed in his attitude toward''s South Carolina''s glorification of the Confederate Flag and his fondness for the song Sweet Home Alabama, an overtly racist song. No, I''d say Huckabee''s gotten a free pass all along. - Reply to this comment
- [Huckabee] loves The True God (by their fruits you shall know them). All "beliefs" are not equal.

The 9-11 terrorists also loved the one "True God," just ask any of their friends. They were each true blue believers, and like Huckabee, they believed wholeheartedly that God''s laws should be enforced by government. Huckabee is just a different shade of the kind of theocracy the Taliban created in honor of the one "True God." - Reply to this comment
- Honestab8: I guess then, by your definition, all the other candidates should be preachers, too?
Did you all know that OVER 30,000 Americans registered on (2) online petitions asking McCain to accept the invitation from Mike Huckabee to a debate for tonight? Did you realize that 99.9% of those 30,000 felt that if McCain didn''t accept (we in Texas assume he was too busy cooking ribs at his Texas spread over the weekend) that they, in turn, wouldn''t support him even if he got the nomination? Well, doesn''t that indicate that McCain doesn''t give a "rip" about the voters in those states which are holding primaries? How arrogant and assuming Mr. McCain is to decline from a debate....I guess he thinks he''s pretty hot stuff and doesn''t feel he needs to debate anyone. TEXANS: Show McCain that he can''t pre-determine your votes! Vote for the candidate that was just endorsed by The Dallas Morning News yesterday! VOTE FOR MIKE HUCKABEE...HE CARES!!! - Reply to this comment
- He passed the plate enough, he should be set for life.

- HUCKABEE IS THE STRONG, VIBRANT, YOUTHFUL CANDIDATE. IT JUST UPSETS THE GOP BOYS THAT HE IS NOT ONE OF THEIR ELITIST, RICH,INSIDER "PUPPET-BOY" TYPES (A SOURCE). THEY WON''T BE PAMPERED BY MR. MIKE HUCKABEE. OH, NO!
HERE''S THE THING: WHILE THE REPUBLICANS ARE SHAMELESSLY EXPOSING THEIR ERRORS, THEREBY COMMITTING POLITICAL AND PUBLIC SUICIDE, MC CAIN HAS BEEN HANDING THEM THE PROVERBIAL "POISON" ,"ROPE" AND "GUN".... ..BY REFUSING TO BE MORE AVAILABLE/VISIBLE , SPEAKING IN A MOST IMMODERATE MANNER, AND DODGING A REPUBLICAN DEBATE PETITION (PRIOR TO THE TEXAS PRIMARY)
PERHAPS MR MC CAIN IS OVERWHELMED WITH THE UPROAR THAT HUCKABEE IS CAUSING IN TEXAS. WHATEVER IT IS, WE, THE AMERICAN VOTERS, AND THOSE WHO PETITIONED MC CAIN HDQRTRS.... IN VAIN (FOR A REP DEBATE) CONTINUE TO BE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD BY
MR JOHN MC CAIN. AS MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE DEMOCRAT SIDINGS MERCILESSLY FLOODS THE AIRWAYS, HE RESEMBLES A FRAIL LITTLE BOY TRYING TO PLAY BALL WITH THE HEADLINER LIBERALES,BEFORE HE IS EVEN ABLE TO TOSS THE BALL WITH HIS OWN TEAMMATES. IN THE MEANTIME, THE REPUBLICAN VOTERS ARE ABANDONED TO OUR OWN DEVICES, LEFT ONLY TO WAIT, WONDER AND WAGER OUR OWN BETS.
WHO WOULD YOU VOTE FOR? - Reply to this comment
- That Mike Huckabee is still standing after all the intense hostility and unfair treatment by the Republican establishment and the conservative media, and with only grass roots money, and with a tiny organization, is nothing less than a miracle itself. When he gets to compete on a level playing field, it will be a miracle if he is NOT elected President of the United States.

- Mikey loves the True God (TM)? Good for him. He should be a preacher, not a elected representative.

They did not love God...they were sinister, twisted, fanatics, with a whole set of matching creedo...Mr Huckabee was(and is) a compassionate and wise governor...and He loves The True God (by their fruits you shall know them). All "beliefs" are not equal. You can''t trash-talk Mike Huckabee...Don''t even try.- Reply to this comment
- The worst I can "dig up" on Huckabee is he loves God!

What a charitable way of describing Huckabee''s desire for a theocracy. Did you know that the 9-11 terrorists also loved God? I bet you didn''t know that. - Reply to this comment
- to jesterbelle: let me help ya, it said MAY be his last stand...Huckabee knows how to pull an arrow out of his hat and keep on going. While doing so he is not upsetting other countries or spending corporations money to be indebted, if he''s our Commander in Chief. I like that integrity and approve of Mike Huckabee for President 2008! SHOCK THIS NATION TEXAS AND MIKE HUCKABEE!

- bdint4rl: Thanks for the power you give Mike Huckabee, obviously, if he can get mother nature to react you''d think he can perform in the White House then. Just maybe those tornados are following to eliminate the corrupt going on that he gracefully is addressing. There is always two sides to each story, have you check the other side of your candidates? The worst I can "dig up" on Huckabee is he loves God! This country was founded on christianity, now days you must fight to be a christian and now it is no longer politically correct? With the power you give Huckabee no wonder he''s been refered to as HuckaBoom! I hope he booms Texas and the USA!

- I agree with RustyNail and the Huckabee supporters. One claiming Huckabee wants to replace our constitution w/religion by bringing religion into this decision is being bias. If one doesn''t learn what Huckabee''s issues and plans are they are out of the loop. They will get the constitution replaced by all 3 front runners with in interest of the elite power, they are not looking to amend the existing they will replace it completely. Huckabee is genuine to keep and promote soveregnity for the country and the states. That speaks volumes and the fair tax can get this economy on the right track with a fairness to all, without it costing millions! Not reading the tax act, you don''t understand what it would do. I like Mike and hope this nation gets the shock needed that people count and in a time of grave endangers to our existing nation as we''ve known it. The globalism and elite corporations do not need any more power. That is exactally, what each front runner is bringing to the White House, if they are elected.

- "And, just as Huckabee and his campaign are countig on, many appeared to either not know or not care that their favorite candidate has already been mathematically eliminated."
True enough, religious fanatics are not concerned with democracy or the will of the people; they will mow you down, whatever it takes! - Reply to this comment
- Mike Huckabee believes in "miracles not math". LOL
This type of logic should appeal to his base. Good luck pulling that rabbit from your keyster, Mike! - Reply to this comment
- Thank you, Gov. Huckabee, for staying in the race to be our voice. There are thousands upon thousands of us whom you represent. We value the life of every white human, born and unborn; we cherish the family and the freedom for religious beliefs--whose ever they may be, so long as they are not atheist, jewish or muslim, which are all one in the same (satanic). We want better schools (that teach creationism), less tax (for corporations and the wealthy), and less government (prohibiting racial discrimination, protecting the environment and prohibiting monopolies). We want a balanced budget in Washington at the expense of the poorest americans. Your expertise is what we need in the White House!

Many of us will not vote for McCain in November, no matter what. So keep in the race as long as no one has the magic number of 1191. Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul need to stay in the race until it is over. This is America with a great system of primaries so every person can have a voice. We want a brokered convention! - Reply to this comment
- Mike Huckabee and his followers are conservatives first and Republicans second. The GOP %u201CGood-O-Boys%u201D are republicans first and just fall in line as the democrats just fall in love with their candidate.
John McCain has moved the conservative party to the center where the moderates and liberal GOP members hang out. He is not planning to energize the conservative base to be elected. 20 % of the conservatives will not vote this election, another 10% will not vote for McCain, and most of the Huckabee and Paul supports will not vote for McCain. So where is McCain and the GOP planning to get the votes? Answer, the moderate and liberal conservatives. Game over for the conservative base of the GOP if Huckabee is not successful! - Reply to this comment
