Actually, it''s the Obama campaign trying to play the race card, just like they did in SC right before the primary. A class Karl Rove style smear. - Reply to this comment

This Muslim thing is not hurting Obama, but I must admit, bigots may be stupid, but they don''''t give easy.

Keep fooling yourself.
As much as you may want to deny it,it is and will hurt him.
What I am saying is this:
When blacks in the south were being hanged from nooses for being black, other blacks were up north "unaffected" by this situation.
To say that a black with muslim roots is cool with America is denial of what America is.
Still don''t believe it?

- Original report, 12:58 p.m. ET: While the Matt Drudge Web site tried desperately early Monday to convince readers that a picture of Sen. Barack Obama dressed in traditional Somali garb has been circulated by the Sen. Hillary Clinton campaign, Big Head DC can confirm that the Clinton camp did not release the photo. In fact, the picture has appeared on the news site %u201CGeeska Afrika%u201D for several months.
http://www.geeskaafrika.com/ethiopia_31aug06.htm
What may have happened is Drudge found the picture on the Geeska Afrika Web site and then knowingly launched a fake story insisting the Clinton camp was behind the circulation of the picture. There may be evidence that Drudge even fabricated e-mails from Clinton staffers referring to the photo. The Internet publisher has long been well-known for his distaste for the Clinton family.
By now, the Drudge narrative has been picked up by several conservative-leaning publications, including the Politico. And the Obama camp has released a statement denouncing the Clinton camp for its imaginary ties to the photo, which shows Obama dressed as a Somali Elder during a 2006 visit to Kenya.

- There is no real proof this came from the Clinton campaign.
Many conservatives from the Anti-Muslim McCain camp would receive great benefit from the ethnic slant the photo offers.
It would be obvious that McCain''s followers would benefit from the photo release, since they consider Hillary Clinton an easier candidate to beat, than Barack Obama.
I also beleive that Huckabee''s evangelical followers would feel overjoyed at the damage opportunity since it is a religious contest for them. - Reply to this comment
- Big Head DC has received credible information indicating that the now infamous Sen. Barack Obama picture, which shows him wearing traditional Somali garb in 2006, was posted on at least one conservative Web site several hours before Matt Drudge highlighted the photo. It seems highly likely that the photo was forwarded to Drudge from one of the conservative Web site writers, or he saw it on his own, and then he posted a story regarding the picture. To seal the story, he may have decided to falsely claim that the Sen. Hillary Clinton campaign had ties to the picture%u2019s distribution.
No Clinton campaign staffers have taking credit for spreading the photo, which, as Big Head DC noted today, was initially published in August 2006 on an African news Web site.
Drudge has not responded to requests for comment.

- I have to agree that the lapel pin is incredibly stupid, however, if you think about that as well as M. Obama''s statement of, (and this is not the quote), being the first time she was ever really proud to be an American, it does kind of make you wonder. And before all you Obama-ites go saying that I''m smearing someone...relax, I''d rather wonder about things like this now, than wonder why I didn''t in November - if Obama is the candidate.

- What the heck is this lapel pin thing? Bush wears one and he will go down in history as one of the worst Presidents in modern history. If you like lapel pins just vote for John"no change"McCain.

- Obama fans..don''t get too upset over this photo. It''s just a stupid attempt by someone (maybe the Hillary camp) to play on racial fears. This type of mud slinging will only make Obama stronger because most people see it for what it is.

- Thank You johngoodnews!
The question isn''''t which Democratic candidate can beat McCain today. The question is which Democratic candidate can beat McCain in November. The media is attempting to alter the outcome of the Democrat''''s slating elections by predicting Obama as opposed to Clinton over McCain based on their "news" polls. The latest CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, FOX news polls said so. So who made those polls the decision makers? Who regulates them to make sure they''''re not lying to us?
Since when should polls dicatate who people should vote for? It''s obvious all the aforementioned news outlets do! - Reply to this comment

- Obama responds to CNN%u2019s smear: Join In against (right wing hack attacks)
By: John Amato
Obama responds to the new smear campaign against him quite deftly. CNN and the AP should be ashamed of themselves. I didn%u2019t know lapel pins were so important to national security. Glenn Greenwald explains how easy it was for Obama to handle this nonsense:
Far more notable is Barack Obama%u2019s response to these depressingly familiar attacks. In response, he%u2019s not scurrying around slapping flags all over himself or belting out the National Anthem, nor is he apologizing for not wearing lapels, nor is he defensively trying to prove that %u2014 just like his Republican accusers %u2014 he, too, is a patriot, honestly. He%u2019s not on the defensive at all. Instead, he%u2019s swatting away these slurs with the dismissive contempt they deserve, and then eagerly and aggressively engaging the debate on offense because he%u2019s confident, rather than insecure, about his position
%u201CA party that presided over a war in which our troops did not get the body armor they needed, or were sending troops over who were untrained because of poor planning, or are not fulfilling the veterans%u2019 benefits that these troops need when they come home, or are undermining our Constitution with warrantless wiretaps that are unnecessary?
%u201CThat is a debate I am very happy to have. We%u2019ll see what the American people think is the true definition of patriotism.%u201D - Reply to this comment
"My attitude is that I''''''''m less concerned about what you''''''''re wearing on your lapel than what''''''''s in your heart.
Oh really?
So why is he concerned about what he is wearing in the photo?- Reply to this comment
- "The Clinton campaign did not deny the charge, but did not comment further."
The Clinton machine has realized it can''t win on Hillary''s merits, so it tries to "create" scenarios that it feels will help its cause.
First, it was Bill complaining that the "guys" were "ganging up" on Hillary during the debates in an effort to gain sympathy.
Then we had the crocodile tears from Hillary on a couple of election eves to gain sympathy.
Then it was Hillary complaining that Obama had underhandedly mis-presented her positions in a flier in an attempt to gain sympathy.
Then it was an aid of hers complaining that the press doesn''t cover the two candidates in an equal fashion in an attempt to gain sympathy.
Now, we have her staff circulating a pic of Obama in Kenyan garb during a visit there in an attempt to portray him as not being a "true" American or some such drivel.
Obama takes the gentlemanly high road while Hillary pathetically screams from the ditch.....

- Maybe there is some truth to this picture. Chicago Tribune has recently published an article Feb. 24 08 or Feb. 25 08 that there was a rally of radical islamics supporting him lead by Louis Farrakhan.
Read about him.
Politico has published an article about Obama being tied to a radical group in the 60''s.
We really need to be leary since 9/11.
Why is it so wrong to know everything we can, the good and the bad, about our candidates.
It''s not smearing them, it''s a job interview for the most important position in the WORLD.
I know from having my own business that there would be NO WAY that I would hire an inexperience applicant to run my business. Why would Americans not think the same?
Are we part of a "dumb" movement? - Reply to this comment
- How silly!!!! It would be incredibly stupid of the Clinton Campaign to put out this photo, since Hillary has dozens of photos of her circulating in Middle Eastern garb from her many visits to that region....
