- McClain has a reputation of when he believes in something he is willing to take a politically unwise position. One example is immigration which almost cost him his home state and is very unpopular with CPAC and many Republicans.

This I 100% agree with. How could I have missed mentioning Immigration and his stand on that .He is willing to take the strong unwise positions and stand by them, but is that what we need another Bush who does the same thing. This is my point. - Reply to this comment
- "More of the Same, McCain" is a true campaign motto and a terrible reason to even consider electing him. I expect he will drop out before the election because we are all pretty sick of anything "republican" at this point.

- "Two years ago, he shifted his position 180 degrees on some issues. I don''''t believe in the charge of "flipflopping", I think people can be allowed to change their minds on issues as they learn new things over time, but McCain went from publically disliking Bush to being his best buddy, literally overnight. It was very suspicious. Posted by Rafterman1
Insiteful post, Rafterman.
You are correct about both the definitions of flipflop as well as "changing minds".
I believe the "literally overnight" suspicion part of your post would be a good article for the news to write up.
I have to admit, I didn''t realize he had a 180 two years ago. People don''t usually do this unless there is a reason. Some good reporting will get to the REAL reason.
I believe we are on opposite ends of the spectrum on Iraq, but never the less, it would be interesting to see his reason for agreeing with President Bush. - Reply to this comment
- Starleo, actually, those are the average of several different polls........
Try to vary your media watching and get balance in your input.
McCain is doing well despite incessant negative comments on MSNBC, CNN and etc. Just like Obama has suffered on CBS.

I respect your views, and you are entitled to your opinion, I will never doubt that, I have read a lot of your posts, but honestly Mc Cain is probably being elected on what he use to be. That man has sold his soul to the neocons the right wing if you will, going to Falwell telling that lie about Iraq, straight shooter is this man really a straight shooter,, or what is he. Please keep trying to convince me I use to be a Mc Cain supporter but no more sorry. I think I do have a lot that think as I do as well. - Reply to this comment
- Rafterman, for someone running for President I do not think strongly supporting Bush is a wise move. I suspect he did it because he believes in the "purpose" of the war but not the methods prior to Petraeus.

The polls is this the same poll that predicted Obama to win over Hillary in New Hampshire. The only Polls is the true American Vote - Reply to this comment
- Two years ago, I (and a lot of Dems) would have easily voted for McCain. A truely moderate Republican could win easily. But then McCain decided to sell his soul to the devil (Bush) to get RNC support and money and he became just another scummy politician.

- Don''t believe any media report or poll about what a candidate said or did which has an analysis attached to it. Instead listen to their words and what they say and watch their demeanor and then rely on your gut instinct: would you feel comfortable hanging out on Sat mornings with ''em, or would you feel comfortable asking them to come pick you up from a bar because you were too drunk to drive. There''s no need to get all wrapped around the axel over the poison bs that''s handed out by the press.
