Some people will tell you that our "enemies" are arming themselves because we are the bullies and bad guys that started all this and they are only protecting themselves.

When you try to be the police for the whole world, you are going to step on some peoples toes. I say let China and Russia take over for a while and see how things go,......don''t call us, we''ll call you when people want us back taking care of things.

For the record: we weren''''t allowed to make officers do much of anything, we were supposed to notify their commanding officer or the duty officer (via our desk sgt) and let him take care of them.

We were strongly cautioned to be courteous and respectful to senior NCO''''s and officers no matter what they did. (within limitations) Just because we could did not mean we should. . .

I was never a MP, but I was in what we called "courtesy patrols," when I was stationed on Okinawa. We would try to stay ahead of the MP''s and anybody that looked like they were drunk or causing trouble, we would try to get them back to camp before the MP''s saw them. I was also a "chaser" from time to time.

Lost? The message was never found -- it fell on mostly deaf ears in this country. The current republican party''s rage over the civil rights movement has been percolating for decades -- you ain''t seen nothin'' yet. Just wait ''til they get one more klansman on the Court. When I was young (early seventies)my Mother brought me into the house to watch a PBS special on Dr. King''s "I have a dream" speech. She explained to me that genetically the difference between people of dark skin & light skin is the same difference as someone with blue eyes & green eyes. She made it clear that I should take his words to heart & try to live by message. The message? (Paraphrase) People should be judged by the content of thier charactor, not the color of thier skin. I never thought that after 30 something years I would still be seeing news stories that revolve around the color of someone''s skin color as a determining factor of thier charactor or even being an issue for a news story. I''m beginning to think that Dr. King''s message has been lost.
