And again he uses a classic religious troll deflection by claiming the Catholic Church doesn't represent Christianity when it was founded by Christs disciple Peter and was they only Christian church until Reformation. Not much better repping that that 'ey? lol! He also make another false claim about the historical accuracy of the bible when that is in and of itself a joke. Sure wish I had some of what he's smoking though. Might help me get some sleep. lol!

I completely agree with that assessment Randal. It can be carried past this thread as well. People who fault Muslims for 9/11 but when it comes to their own religion's misdeeds it does not matter because they can just label that person a non-true-whatever religion we are talking about.

Just because you have a large chunk of people that believe something does not make it true. If I convinced the whole world that the world was flat, would it flatten out or world?

Religious faith is just that, faith that it is true. Live your life as you see fit and you can be assured you followed the rules you needed to. But, leave me to my life to live as I see fit.

You see dembonz, here is a classic trick of the religious troll, side-stepping responsibility for the evil things Christian religious fanatics have done in the past by labelling them as non-Christian, actually not good Christians like themselves. For instance it is a true-ism of history that Hitler was a Christian and in fact depended on the Catholic church to help pull himself up to power and legitimacy. Now of course ricky will say that he wasn't a true Christian, but that's like saying that a dog that bites wasn't a true dog. It's still a dog and it still bit and denying it just makes the denier look silly and like a liar. Of course that doesn't stop fanatics from using this same argument when confronted by things like the Crusades and the Inquisition. A rather feeble attempt at deflection at best though.

That is just it. Everything you just listed is what you believe, not true just because you believe it.

I never said anything about Christians going around killing all who oppose Jesus. I said the Quran calls for jihad when Muslims are threatened. Pointing out that it is not a far leap to turn that into an offensive tool to get the extreme faithful to find a reason to carry out whatever it is they want to do.

You have a book (the bible) that you read and you believe its contents to be true. The Jews have a book (that predates the bible) and oral history that they choose to believe is true. The Muslims have a book they choose to believe is true, etc. Every religion, or most,have built in rules about false prophets and false gods and to be wary. The only thing that makes what you believe true is you, and it is only true to you. As long as you believe it and keep it out of my life and everyone that wants no part of what you have to offer, more power to you. I have no problem with religion. I have a problem with people force feeding it down others throats. What I believe is just as valid as what you believe.

In my head what I believe it correct, to you it is what you believe. Very subjective.
