Quit blaming the NRA and Gun owners. just google Weapons or bombs or any of a hundred other ways to kill or hurt people and prepare for the 'shock' of your life. Guns are nothing compared to other forms of destruction to be found on the internet. Find some way to get people to 'not' want to hurt or kill and you might do some good for mankind, otherwise shut up! with your ranting about a particular form of mayhem or murder.

Your statement is utterly and absolutely absurd. "We need protection from ourselves".
You do trust yourself? But you trust the government to done the right thing for you.

Do I trust myself? Yes. To a point. You have traffic laws in your community as do I. Would I get in my car and speed down the highway if the local speeding law did not deter me? Yes. Do I speed? Yes. But I will only go so far like everybody. The faster I go in my state, the stiffer the penalty. The law protects me from making a decision that would cost $$ and/or jail time. The law protects me from making a decision that would be costly.

Why not ask the mayor of nagasaki, oh yes, he was shotdown by an illegal gun fired by a known mobster...yeah, gun control really works.

When guns are outlawed/banned most honest gun-owning citizens will become criminals of the state.

GunCtrlYes,

Where do I say arm to the hilt. You are simply drawing baseless conclusions. All I want is to be able to protect myself, my family and my property. If you are lucky sometimes these kind of law abiding citizen can save others also.

Can we really expect police that barely make enough to support a family to put their lifes on the line. Of course not. Don't give "that's what the do". The only person that can stop a situation like that is the people that are threatened with there life. If one of the students or professor were trained and carry a gun this incident would not been so terrible.

You are exactly the kind our person our founders spoke of.

%u201CGuard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel.%u201D Patrick Henry

I believe as everyone should believe people are generally law abiding citizens. But when people start morphing our "Bill of Rights" & "Constitution" we lose freedom.

This is why the NRA will never be defeated.

I am sure the tobacco industry had similar thoughts at one time.

"The NRA is committed to constitutional rights. While most people think of us as focused on firearms, we are rather more focused on freedom. Yes, we concentrate on the Second Amendment, but the Second Amendment is about liberty. It's an insurance policy for all of your constitutional rights. The purpose of the Second Amendment is to make sure that you have the ability to protect your life, liberty and property, and those of your loved ones, against any who would try to take them from you. That includes your freedom to speak, worship, protest and vote. It includes the things you hold most dear."
- Sandy Froman, NRA President

And there you have it.

To lessgov1 and gunnerv1:

What you are saying is since we can't have a perfect world in which noone is harmed, let's arm ourselves to the hilt and prepare for the worst.

We make laws to protect people from themselves, not others. If you rape somebody, you will go to jail, if you rob somebody, you will go to jail. If the penalties are not enough of a deterent, you should petetion your polititicians for stiffer state and federal penalties.

You write of our corrupt government and how we can not trust them to do what is right. Well, thanks to the gun industry's/NRA's propaganda manchine, they have bought and paid for politicians who will vote in their favor. All they do is contribute to the corruption we all know exists in Washington and disquise it as protecting your rights.

Guns are a product produced for one purpose - killing. Controls over types and quanities of weapons available to the general public would not diminish your rights.

gunnerv1,

Thank You, I think you hit the nail sqaurely on the head.

They also believe our corrupt political system will take care of them after confication.

Just like they have taken care of our education, banking, veterans, economy, pensions, SS, healthcare.

Not one of the system is without major corruption and severe problems. Our politicians are to concerned with terrorists.

Well, wasn't this last tragedy by a terroist.
The Patriot Act did little to catch him.
