Organization's Political Power Means Calls For Gun Control Will Likely Go Unheard
- People were given the right to bear arms, not to hunt, not to feel safe from criminals, - these are all good reasons, but not *the* reason - but to prevent the government from raging out of control, beyond it's constitutional bounds, from becoming tyranical and turning into another pre-war Nazi Germany.
The right of the populace, the average citizen, to carry arms, is to protect the people from the government. Period.
Woe to anyone who seriously thinks that they don't need to be protected from the powerful minority that can strip away every right we have.

Absolutely! Every other reason given to not let people keep some unregistered weapons is nothing more then a distraction from the rel reasons we have this right and none of them should ever be allowed to supersede this right, because if they are then that will truly be the end of America and American freedoms. Then the government will become our bosses, our Masters, instead of the other way around. Never, EVER trust your government completely. Ever! - Reply to this comment
- elengil,
I respect your opinion; I really do. However, your argument is the weakest of all the pro-ownership positions here.
Do you actually think, for a minute, that we somehow need to bear arms to protect ourselves from the government that is in place today? I also don't believe we need to fear becoming a british colony any time soon.
Look at the little, back-woods militias we see in the news from time-to-time. We often hear their intentions are to protect themselves from the tyrannous government. I suspect 99% of the population fears their existance and intent and would never consider standing side-by-side with them, agains our government. - Reply to this comment

- Just think of all the money we'd save in taxes... we wouldnt need as many cops, or lawyers, or judges. We know the last two get paid a LOT. Think of that!
Heck all we'd have to add are morticians and cremation chambers.
If some fool did act up, he or she'd get blown away from 10 different directions... think of the new brotherhood and friendships we'd have as people of all races compared weapons, shooting styles, and ammo after they join in a good ole shooting of some idiot that dared to fire first.
I think it would bring more people of different races together in bonding... remember, guns are the great equalizers.
Fathers and sons/daughters, neighbors all seeing each other at the Friday-night FishFry/Target Shootout Challenge in every neighborhood.
Im thinking this could spawn a new interest in the knife industry too. - Reply to this comment
In all this the bottom line is to hell with the public, the NRA are about putting dollars in their pockets, nothing else, what the hell, collateral damage, it's worth a few lives [ 30,000 a year ] so long as the dollars roll in.
Frighten hell out of them boys, make them paranoid, more dollars that way.
Good old NRA. we think you are great.
Keep Iraq going boys, heaps of gun sales for that little party.- Reply to this comment
- 'Those who live by the sword shall die by the sword.' Matthew 26:52. How many posters here profess Christianity while holding their Concealed Carry Permits? Quite a lot I bet...

- Individual gun rights are guaranteed to us by the Consitution. If you don't like it then ammend it.
It is interesting to me that the most terrible gun massacres that have occured in the United States in the last few years have been in gun free zones. Law abiding citizens who normally would carry guns obey the laws and the people who do the killing could care less. I would suggest that all doubters of the relationship between crime and gun posession should read the research that has been done by John R. Lott. - Reply to this comment
- I know when I carry around my Taurus 9mm with the custom barrel vibe adjuster, nice 15 rd clip balances it well, load those black talons up, & slap that silencer i got (under the table), and i feel really confident and powerful, like im ready to take on anybody. Its like having that freedom of "dont even try something with me buddy, or i'll put a 1 inch hole in this side, and a 4 inch hole on the other for ya!" :)
Specially with my kevlar armor under my shirt.
I wonder if everyone had a gun, if it would spark a competition to have the best and most powerful gun, like bigger or better. Can you imagine the economic boom created for the gun industry, & the innovations in firearm technology?
Every store would be begging to sell guns & anyone would be happy to sell guns at like yardsales and in the paper and online to anyone. No rules, no paperwork.
And if your boss wants to fire you, you wouldnt ever shoot him with your gun cuz he'd have his hand on his while he fired you. And if you gave him trouble, he could get 3 coworkers to put their guns to your head and walk you out and have a sniper on the roof incase you come back later.
sweet! i am just loving this potential. Good thing we're having this discussion about relaxing gun laws for US citizens.
And just think fellow Republicans, the only ones that would get shot would be liberals cuz they wouldnt carry. - Reply to this comment
- The answer is that we all carry guns around at all times. Never lay it down, never leave it unloaded.
That certainly more practical than denying a permit and sale to a psyche patient on drugs who stalks people. He's got gun rights! - Reply to this comment
- Pretty depressing that we can't get the right to bear weapoons redefined to protect us from our own derganged citizens because of a powerhouse of a lobbying group that represents such a small portion of our citizenry. Why do special interest groups have more power than we the people -- much more power...it ain't even close. Is no one else depressed by this and our inability to do anything about it?
