- Miamiviking, you ask (off topic) how Sen. Obama paid for school, a trip after graduating, and his $1 M home in Chicago. I''m sorry that questions like this are posed, since they suggest something nefarious -- was Barack being funded by evil forces? Come on. I''ll tell you how these were paid for -- since I went to law school, took a post-graduation trip, and bought a house later in Chicago, just like Barack. My dad was a truck driver, and we did not have a lot of family money to fund us. As for law school, you save, use some of your own money, get some aid through the school, and take out a loan. As for the trip, you travel modestly, using some of your summer job savings, and stay with family along the way. This is a typical student tour approach. And finally, as for the house, sad to say, a million dollar house in Chicago is not a mansion -- Yes, it''s a nice house, but it''s within the budget range that I and my colleagues with comparable education have purchased. The way it is done? A down payment made from savings while you and your spouse have been working as attorneys. And then you get a mortgage. Barack''s education, travel, and home purchase are VERY consistent with what my husband and I have experienced, and with what comparable attorney friends in Chicago have done. Please don''t try to imply that there is something suspicious here. We all worked hard in school, sought out financial aid, took out loans, scrimped, and worked hard. No evil plot here.

- I say give the $150,000.00 worth of Airmiles to Joe the Plumber so he can afford to buy the business. Alternatively he could use the under $250K tax savings on his current income to buy the business.

CBS needs to retract this story and APOLOGIZE to the public, and, put it on the FRONT PAGE for THREE DAYS....the same amount of time they posted this pos lie on the front page.

- Obviously most people don''t understand the "trickle down" system. Weren''t any of you listening to Reagan?
This is the way our country is supposed to be run.
We need to have our upper class spend so that the common people benefit. Sarah''s shopping has helped dozens of sales people and hundreds of sweatshop garment workers.
The system works !! Bigger tax breaks will trickle down and help yacht builders and domestic servants across the country - Reply to this comment
- its amazing this completly biased so called news orginization puts this completly stuiped story up front while a presidential canidate thats gets a free ride.. - You lead by example. Spending $150,000 on clothing etc., at high end stores is sending the wrong message to the average JOE the Plumbers and Cindy McCain''s disclosure that she charged over $75,000 on her credit cards in one month alone - which she paid off immediately (must be nice to have that cash on hand)says a lot about her and Sen. McCain''s lack of understanding the problems that we have in America today.
McCain & palin are out of touch with real America. Tat''s why I am voting OBAMA/BIDEN.

"These kinds of shopping excursions are not unusual for high profile figures where, for example, stylists will typically buy three sizes and three different styles of a sweater and later return excess clothes."
