At first glance, Murtha seems guilty of the same porking behavior that senators from both sides of the aisle commit as their political way of life. However, for those interested in a chronology of pork, it eascalated an order of magnitude under Hastert / Delay

The answer is not to endorse Murtha or any other porker, but to reform the system. That started under this congressional term with S.Res.123, a bill to restrict attachment of earmarks to spending measures. And to publish the name of any earmark sponsor 48 hours before consideration, along with the earmarked amount.

BTW-- Isn''t Murtha a Democrat? Where are the posters who insist CBS is a liberal spinfactory? (Probably drinking deeply at Faux News Network.)

Part 1 of the shocking exposi on the blatant campaign finance corruption perpetrated by Hillary Clinton. See how she accepted millions of dollars in campaign contributions (illegally), denied it, then tried to cover it up.

Whether it Republicans or Democrats - TERM LIMITS is the only thing that will keep politicians reasonable honest, and working for the people. Longevity bestows too much power on politicians on BOTH sides of the aisle.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=bill+clinton Halliburton
NOVAK: You know, this is the fourth time this week that either you or James Carville has brought up Halliburton. But there''s one thing you don''t bring up, Paul. And that is that, under the Clinton administration, your dear President Bill Clinton, Halliburton got fat no-bid contracts in Haiti and in the Balkans. How do you explain that?

MyIDonCBS:

You conveniently forget that Murtha wrongly accused the Marines at Haditha of being "cold-blooded killers".

But then liberals like you have "selective amnesia", don''t they?

It''s very funny that before Murtha said the troops should leave Iraq, he was the darling of the right. They absolutely LOVED his "ability to bring home defense contracts through earmarks on appropriations bills". He was on "their side"!

Then, he dared to speaak the truth, that our troops can never "win" anything in Iraq, that they are sitting ducks waiting to die, that they are not making us "more safe" or "more secure". Suddenly, Murtha falls under the critical eye of the repug neocon''s spin machine. Now he is HATED by all the good little repugs. He''s "fat". He''s "ugly". He''s "crooked". He''s the "enemy"!

Repugs can only accuse others of the things they themselves are guilty.

"Mutha" must have pi$$ed someone off bigtime for the media to report on any of his shady dealings.

Nah. You forget that Rupert Murdoch bought the Wall Street Journal.

Murtha is just Rupert''s opening salvo from his new flagship in his continuing war against anything that doesn''t benefit him and his peers.

Murtha is a disgrace and I am a true Democrat. This is another reason why Pelosi could grasp defeat from the jaws of victory. These two are in such safe districts that their corruption and pandering doesn''t affect their political fortunes. If the Democrats fail to win a huge majority in the House in 2008 these will be two people that should shoulder most of the blame and be asked to retire before they are indicted.
