"the White House proposed keeping the general''s report behind closed doors"

I can see another person named Petraeus soon retiring to spend more time with his family, just like TurdBlossom.

The Decider doesn''t like the facts that P. brought home. Just like Hitler didn''t like what his generals told him about Stalingrad.

How many years of military service does Jenna''s new fiance have? Another chickenhawk in the Bushy family?

Why Iraq? didn''t Saddam try to have George H Bush
assassinated around 1990.Could this be a vendetta?
Really something to think about!

au_fart will just get more confused by intelligent responses. He only sees the war and the soldier, which would be good if we were in a war and not a, ahh, a, whatever this debacle is.

Posted by alvinpm at 07:05 PM : Aug 16, 2007 I just cannot believe you just said that I''m not a republican but in the military there are no such thing as republican or democrat when you are fighting side by side only when you vote and I doubt anyone asks how you voted. Please do not say something like that again. I do not want any combat soldier to die republican or democrat or independent.

"War is sensless, but when it is declared, do not tie a soldiers hands. Allow them to do there job and accomplish their goal (right or wrong)."

That''s not the way it is in America. Even when war is declared (and the Iraq war wasn''t), the U.S. Constitution places the military under civilian control.

That WAS the way things were in Imperial Japan in the early 20th century. The military ran the show. After war began with America, the military did things like the Bataan Death March, etc., because there was no accountability to any elected body.

Take heart...americans are getting in iraq just what they deserve. bush was sent by god to punish republicans for the way they have defiled the planet. two thirds of the troops are republicans, so there are two chances out of three that whenever one gets blown up that''s one less republican.

There you go again, do you remember when Maliki told our troops to back off when they had the area under control and they were told to go ahead back off. would you call that a political move and tieing the military''s hands.

Yep, little George is at it again. He is going to "see to it" that Petraeus''s comments are sanitized. Why? Because Bush is "The Decider" and if he "decides" the General''s assessment does not jive with what he wants us to believe, he''ll just change the outcome to reflect his way of thinking. Truth or not! It just gets more bizarre every day. Can''t someone DO something to get this wing nut out of power? Hello Democrats? I don''t think we can wait until the election. This has become very, very, scary.

So the White House, the same people who funnelled cherry picked intel to the Congress in the run up to the war, told us we''d be greeted as liberators, said the mission was accomplished and that progress is being made, has announced that General Petraeus will NOT be giving a report to Congress and the American people, but rather will report to the White House and that thier speech writers will write the report he delivers to Congress. Once again Bush wants only his lies to be in public and not the truth.

OJ Simpson is reviled because it is believed he murdered 2 (two) people and got away with it. George Bush is responsible for the murder of over 200,000 people and he is smugly and snugly reaping the rewards of his "accomplishments". What is wrong with this picture?

The Real Reason We''re In Iraq: An influential group of conservatives convinced President George W. Bush that it was in America''s best interests to conquer Iraq as a first step toward dominating the oil-producing nations in the Middle East. There was no "exit plan" because we never intended to exit. The plan was, and is, to build military bases in Iraq and stay there forever. Our leaders also see Iraq as a place to make money. So Bush & Co. have set up their friends to cash in on the rebuilding of Iraq.
