Author And Columnist Speaks About Fearmongering
- Dear Ms Huffington:
Let's see, on 911 more people were killed that at Pearl Harbor. Pres. Roosevelt, a Democrat, declared war on Japan. If we had it your way, we should have said we deserved it since we had cut off Japan with embargos, etc. We sure as hell would have had more sushi bars on the West coast with that plan of action. And, I believe the "fear" comment by FDR was during the depression. Look it up. - Reply to this comment
- I must disagree with Ms. Huffington. On a planet, in a world, of a century that spawned the likes of mass and idealistic killers the likes of which their previous killer anscestors such as Atilla or Vlad Dracula never dreamed of, we must lsten to the lessons of history. There is no rationality to many of the heinous crimes of men like Hiitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, idi Amin and others of similar cut in the immediate past. Wheter 6 million or 3000 is a small matter when the villans of this design can push a button and kill 10 times 6 million. FDR never faced the capability of such destruction on a global scale and in 1941 could not imagine it. No one could. Telling the viewers to be unafraid is naieve at best and irresponsibly myopic at worst. I am not a paranoid in this regard but i do feel some healthy fear is a good thing. Fear makes one do things asuring survival.

- Proverbs 30:25 Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.
Fear of people can hamper everything you try to do. In extreme forms it can make you afraid to leave your home. By contrast, fear of God---respect, reverence, and trust---is liberating. Why fear people who can do no eternal harm? Instead, trust God who can turn the harm intended by others into good for those who trust him. - Reply to this comment
- While we may not see eye to eye on every detail there is a lot of truth in your presentation. Thank you Ms. Huffington, and CBS for reminding us that things might not actually be quite the same as what is portrayed in Washington. (We should all know that by now).

- Bush ignored warnings, and let off TERROR once he had a chance to go after his personal enemy, and yet still babbles about the threat. Perhaps his lavish receptions for the Saudi al Qaeda financiers was the wrong COURSE "to stay."

- We must fight terror on our home soil thanks to the GOP huh? So it was the Bush admin that caused 9-11 too I guess? I see us fighting the terrorists in the middle east and haven't seen another attack on our soil since we went on the offensive. I will be the first to admit that mistakes have been made, they always are in war, but if we pull back out of the fight in the middle east you may get to see the fight on home soil. Not scare tactics, unfortunately it's the reality of the world we now live now.

- The use of fear for political gain is what Arianna Huffington was addressing. The use of fear tactics by the GOP in their latest political ad, is by definition terrorism. I find it appalling that anyone would use fear and footage that was made by other terrorist in their political ads. We must now fight terror on our home soil, all thanks to the GOP.

- If only Bush and the Republicans were to emphasize what they have done right themselves in the war on terror (not really that much), instead of using it as such as political football (defeatocrats and such). Look, in the past 5 years I've seen democrats in the congress shut out of the disscussion on national security not on the merits of their proposals, but only their political afilliation (as seen on C-span). I don't know about you, but I can't stomach leaders that care more about keeping power than defending our homeland (eg: the breach of air cargo story from yesterday).

- Dear MS Huffington:
Are you living in the same world as the rest of we American citizens? There is a terrorist war on and it is up to the leadership of the United States, under our Constitution, to keep the people of this country informed and to protect the people of this Nation.
If you don't understand those precepts please don't try to push your liberal views on us at dinner time.
Resplectfully,
