- It''s tough to learn these skills in the 4th quarter? Come on. If McCain is going to pick a running mate, they better have knowledge to stand on beforehand. She''s being vetted in the public eye because the McCain campaign didnt do enough homework on her. She never should have been put in this position. You can''t qualify someone to be VP as a "learning on the job" type education. Some experience would be nice, especially when dealing with the press and inquiries. Do I believe she has been picked on a lot? Yes. Do I think some of it may be unfair? Possibly. I don''t know if all of America wants to believe that she can do this, but I would appreciate a little more. Smart move by McCain and Davis to shield her from the press for this long. Her interviews are like watching a trainwreck happen.
If McCain were truly a maverick, he would''ve stuck with his guns and picked Lieberman. - Reply to this comment
- Here''s the truly amazing thing about Palin''s interview: she wasn''t ready for even the most predictable questions. Surely, she should have known that her strange remarks re the importance of Alaska''s proximity to Russia would come up, yet when that subject did come up, she had to grope around for an answer and in the end came up with a ridiculous reply. Knowledge matters. Doing your homework matters. Palin tried to get by with a smile and a friendly manner. It wasn''t enough for the interview--not by a long shot--and it certainly wouldn''t be enough if she someday found herself in the Oval Office.
I am a Democrat but I used to have a good deal of respect for John McCain. Not any more. He''s shown incredibly poor judgment in picking Palin as his running-mate. - Reply to this comment

- Palin is soooo out of her league that to belabor the point seems cruel. At this point, not only is she coming across as unprepared, but the seeming confidence makes it seem that she lacks personal insight, i.e., is clueless. McCain''s stunt in choosing her says so much about him and none of it is positive.

- We knew she would have trouble with this, but it''s tough to learn new skills in the 4th Qtr. All 3 of these other guys had 12 months to make all these gaffes before the pressure mounted. Even Sen McCain still has trouble with the "I''m not really your friend, but you can confide in me" attitude an effective reporter seeks to develop. No complaints about Katie doing her job. Sarah''s answers would make better sense--she might even appear Obamalike--if she put a few more "uhs" and "ers" in between her words instead of rambling incoherently. Sarah, don''t ever look at an interview as an opportunity to get your message out; it''s a reason to defend your turf. This isn''t the type of journalism you ever learned about in college. We know you had a good point about National Security but didn''t want to spill anything on national TV, but you failed to make it clearly in an unforgiving environment. I know you''re all about Doing, Not Talking, but you gotta get better with reporters. Even if none of us thinks their approval matters, all Americans want their elected officials to handle them adroitly. Do all of us a favor and keep practicing. America wants to believe you can handle this.

- For the past year we have been bombarded with silliness regarding Obama and reasons not to vote for him. Obama/Biden sounds too much like Osama Binladen ect They tried to say Obama has no experience, when the shoe is on the other foot that''s a dumb reason to go after someone. Most republicans are such hypocrites. Why can''t you just admit that she is not the best choice Mccain could of made? This woman is an idiot. She shouldn''t not be able to answer simple questions about herself. How can people say she''s fair and honet, I just think she wasn''t gov long enough to really get a good look at her, look up her record when she was mayor. She left that little city in $20 million debt. She chastized Hillary when she said people were being unfair to her for being a woman, she now claims the same thing. She has little scandels popping up, lies about a lot of things, the bridge to no where, earmarks, she wanted to ban books and then fire the librarian who stood up against her, SHE SAID SHE HATES THIS COUNTRY AND ALASKA SHOULD SUCCEED, she''s hidden 25,000 worth of gifts she''s received as gov, the list just keeps growing.
The Mccain campain wanted to cancel tonight''s debate and move it to the same date as the VP debate, OOPPS was that really the same date? Our bad. Because they know that Biden will sweep the floor with her, the only questions are how much he''ll hold back and if he doesn''t how loud will she cry that he was mean to her for being a woman?? - Reply to this comment
- I can see parts of Harlem at a some distance from my penthouse apartment on the Upper Eastside of Manhattan. I can''t see though how this places me in a position or gives me any experience that would allow me to come up with ideas that address some of the social ills that may plague that part of my city.

- oh, and Pinkforpalin, Obama hasn''t referred to his time visiting family in Kenya or the fact that he visited Pakistan as his foreign policy experience. I''ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you forgot to mention he was on the Sentate Foreign Relations Committee. That''s a little more tangible than having Alaska as your neighbor. But that''s just my opinion.

- pinkforpalin- so why are you so angry at Katie?? She was nothing but nice to her in the interview%u2026and even helped her out a time or two when Palin was at a loss for words. If anything you should be mad at Palin%u2019s advisors for not prepping her for the interview. Stop being in denial here and realize that Palin fell flat on her face in the interview. Hahahahaha!
