Shame on you Katie! That was a poor excuse for journalism last night. Oh, right.....what's it called now, Infortainment? I'm saddened that CBS News, the home of Edward R Murrow and Walter Conkrite has been reduced to this. Do you know who those two men were? This was just disappointing and sad. You are now the official poster girl of what's wrong with the media. Please retire.

Katie,

I can't believe I actually used to admire you, your hit job on the Edwards was beyond despicable. What a sorry excuse for a journalist you've turned out to be, a real pathetic disgrace.

So now CBS has sunk to the level of using Fox News memes? How low will you go?

During Katie COuric's last 2 years on the today show I began to notice that her own opinions rang through loud and clear during most of her interviews.I had been a pretty loyal Today show viewer, but gradually
began to find her self-righteousness distracting at the best and downright insulting to the viewers at worst. It got to the point where I could no longer watch Katie at all.I do not watch the news to hear an anchor express his or her own personal views, but to get unbiased and professional reporting.
I have not and will not watch the CBS evening news since Ms. COuric signed on, but was curious enough
to watch her interview with JOhn and Elizabeth Edwards. I was floored by her callousness and insenstivity. How the Edwards family chooses to proceed with their life and John's campaign is just about the most personal decision I can imagine. While Ms. COUric has been through losing a loved
one to cancer on more than one occasion, so have many of us. It is impossible to put ourselves in anyone elses shoes at a time like this. No one can or should have any say in the way the Edwards decide to go on. Ms. Couric may be trying to prove that she's tough during an interview, but she proven once again that she is incapable of keeping her own feelings to herself. I will certainly continue to get my news elsewhere.

You asked John & Elizabeth Edwards if they were in denial--have you asked yourself the same question? How can you think that your performance as a journalist/anchor in that interview was professional and appropriate? How can you justify your actions (badgering John & Elizabeth with one inappropriate question after another) as simply asking the questions that were on the minds of "some people"? Who are the "some people" that you are playing to--bottom-feeders?

John and Elizabeth Edwards are two more courageous individuals who are looking to contribute to and serve this country. Many great leaders have served their communities or the country while facing great personal difficulties including--FDR (personal illness); JFK (personal illness); John McCain (cancer survivor); Gerald Ford (Betty Ford's breast cancer and addictions); Ronald Regan (Nancy Regan's breast cancer); Richard Daley (recently re-elected Chicago mayor, while his wife, Maggie Daley has battled advanced breast cancer). The list goes on and on.

So many individuals are living with and through great health challenges. They become limited only when people like you create negative perceptions and prejudice by amplifying their personal challenges while ignoring their potential for contribution. You abuse the privilage that you have been given to positively influence and educate the American public.

Your questioning of John and Elizabeth Edwards was inappropriate, both in manner and content. It was cheap and cheesy.

I have always respected Katie Couric's manner and
intelligence. Both my husband and myself were more than agitated at her tactics with John and
Elizabeth Edwards. Even after they had answered
her questions, openly and frankly, she kept asking the same, over and over again. I felt it
was unnecessarily brutal and showed a complete
lack of compassion. They do not want pity, but perhaps some empathy might have been demonstrated. They made it very plain that they
were not going to let cancer rule their lives...
they plan to live with it and carry on their dream. Good for them. They showed love and devotion that we would hope reflects all that is
good in humanity. I really felt so saddened by
the questioning and relentless probing into the
same issue. Shame on you.

Running for political office has reached a new low. When is a political office more important than the last days of your wife's life?

What are these people talking about....I thought Couric's interview was top-notch. Initially I was a little skeptical that she wouldn't be tough enough and ask the hard questions. I felt that the Edwards' needed to be asked about what if the prognosis is worse than ideal, or how can he juggle a wife who is terminally ill and still give the country his full attention. Who really wants to confront someone about death and paint the grim picture? Katie's interview was amazing. For all of you who really don't like her interview style then don't watch and tune into the other channels. Katie has a lot of talent and is an intelligent journalist. Great job Katie!

Shame on you Katie. How could you? Elizabeth Edwards did not need your reminder that she might indeed die. Were you trying for tears? Were you trying to derail a brave response to Elizabeth's illness? You continued to work when your husband was ill. I was disgusted with you and hope you subliminally announce that you are no longer perky somewhere else. You have no heart. Nor are you a journalist..... Please go away.

Ms. Couric%u2019s malicious Edwards interview was not acceptable. I admit I rarely find professional balance when Ms. Couric presents news and interviews. I am not watching TO HERE SNIDE COMMENTS from her. This Sunday's interview with the Edwards%u2019s was unprofessional and shameful. The spectacle of Couric's lack of good journalism appears to follow her from past to present. To quote Ms. Couric, "What up with thaaat!!!%u201D I will never watch a broadcast that has Curic%u2019s name attached to it. CBS, should be questioning their choice of news woman, especially when she behaves like a pre-teen. But then again this was the voice she damaged the Today Show%u2019s credibility.
Never again.

Given your past experience with cancer, you must also have a sense that life goes on, even with a cancer diagnosis. Why did you insist on badgering the Edwardses about the decision to continue with their campaign, even after they had answered clearly. Why didn't you ask a single question about John Edwards' political stands - particularly, and poignantly, how his view on health care had been affected by the current situation? This interview seemed amateurish and just a little bit mean-spirited.

I find it astonishing that, given the personal history that you mentioned, you would be so dismissive of their choice to carry on with their usual lives. As Elizabeth Edwards said last night, the choice is either to go on with life as usual or to start dying. You seemed to be saying, with your questions (which are fair game, regardless of what your co-workers might say), that Elizabeth just ought to start dying.

I guess all the execs. were out golfing and couldn't proof read "Poor Katie's" copy of her Edwards interview. I sat down as I usually do on a Sunday evening and tuned into my favorite program. I must admit, while I don't always agree with your choice of story, or the direction the interviewer chooses to take, I find a balance. This Sunday's interview with the Edwardses was an absolute unprofessional and shameful spectacle of Couric's lack of good journalism. To quote Ms. Couric herself "What up with thaaat!!!". Please do your viewers a favor and KEEP HER OFF 60 Minutes permantly
