Gore has already opened the door for environmentalist bashing with his corporate jet junkets and his MANSION with its staggering electric bills. The bills are 20X that of the average homeowner. To call that much debunked movie of his a documentary and dress it up with an Oscar is an insult to the category at the Oscar's. Katie Couric's blog post above is dishonest about President Bush.

She writes "And yet, after a period of time of not conceding global warming even exists, President Bush used the term 'climate change' for the first time and has talked about a way to reduce our dependence on foreign oil."

But this is not true.

The truth is that in June of 2001 (over six years ago!), President Bush said the following in a public news event, the transcript of which is still on the White House web site:

"First, we know the surface temperature of the earth is warming. ... And the National Academy of Sciences indicate that the increase is due in large part to human activity."

The "concensus" in the scientific community is that global warming is happening and man is the cause? Let's see, 1000 years ago the concensus was that the earth was the center of the universe. 600 years ago concensus was that the earth was flat. 30 years ago these same scientists were screaming "global cooling" was taking place because were were polluting the air. I'm not sold that we are in more than a cycle. We have, what, maybe 120 years of semi-accurate temperature records? In the scope of this planet's history that's not even a sneeze. Global Warming is the latest cause for celebrities. I debated global cooling in high school and college, when our scientific community was 95% certain we were going into the next ice age because of "man". In 30 years we will once again be heading into another ice age beacuse of man. We cannot forecast weather for 7 days yet we are certain that we can forecast climate 100 years out.

There is rock solid science that prove we've had several warming periods in the past 6000 years. Why is it when glaciers melt away, we find evidence of people being there?
