- It is sad that CBS branded the comments of the Father that lost a son to a Colorado school shooting as "Repugnant" He most certainly spoke the truth. I say it should be open season on left wing liberal fools that are destroying this nation. God Bless the man that spoke the pure simple truth!!!

- Let's get real about what's going on in our society. Kids are bombarded with negative influences and have very few positive influences.
Many of the traditional ways to positively reinforce our children have been legislated out of existence, forced by a radical activist few. The silent majority is and has been way too silent for way too long.
How long will we allow destructive forces such as "gangsta rap", pornography, etc infect the minds of our precious children? These things are not free speech issues. They are the product of people trading on the misery of others, akin to prostitution.
Laws are what determine what is legal or illegal. There was never the right to say whatever you want regardless of the consequences. It's obvious what the consequences of these things are.
It is also obvious what the consequence of the lack of positive influences are. We need to get back to the foundation that this great nation was built upon. We need to be more activist for the positive things in life and not allow only the extreme anti-traditionalists point of view be heard and become law. - Reply to this comment
- Katie, if anyone is repugnant it is you and your amoral leftist ilk. I repeat Mr. Rohrburg's query--if our children think that unborn children are expendable, because the "law" upholds that, how can we convince them that any person is valuable. Does it surprise you that they can wontenly kill anyone? kenmokr.

- I fully agree with the comments of the man whose son was killed at Columbine. I am disappointed in CBS and Katie Couric trying to tell the nation that he was wrong.
I am starting to believe that our country is being force to believe the beliefs of a few. I saw in a recent poll that the majority of our citizens do believe in God. I believe that our founding fathers are turning over in their graves seeing the way our nation is turning out.
Also, next time someone states that they just got pregnant, please tell them this must be a mistake. Pregnancy means someone is going to have a baby. According to the law, it is not a baby until the fourth month.
Also, if she starts to have morning sickness, etc, please tell her that it must be the flu or something. - Reply to this comment
- Judging by the comments to your reply, it is obvious that you are "kissing up" to the ignorance of the reactionary right wing. I sympathize with someone who is ignorant because of his lack of education or poor upbringing, but this "Christian Taliban" enjoys ignorance and wallows in the "comfort" of fellowship with people who epitomize ignorance .... probably because they are intimidated with those who deplore intellectual laziness.....CBS news will no longer be programmed into my remote.

- Repugnant? That's the best you could do? Or is that just a signal to your elite leftist cocktail friends that talk of morality is so intellectually shallow for the likes of important journalists and celebrities? Nothing like the mention of the words "abortion" and "evil" in the same sentence to send left wingers over the edge. It didn't take long for Katie to show her true colors.

- I am scared that what was once wrong is now right and what was once right is now wrong. There are no moral absolutes so anything goes. Bravo to Mr. Rohrbough who son was killed at Columbine. He cleary made his point. If we can't teach our kids that abortion is killing a child how can we teach them to respect for life. How precious is a baby if it is easily killed.
Shame on you Katie that you called his view repugnant. Your left wing views and the money you make is extremely repugnant and horrid. - Reply to this comment
- Katie,
While I think you chose a very poor choice of words using "repugnant" in your blog, I have to commend you on including Mr. Rohrbough in your 'freespeach' segment. It's nice to finally hear someone say what a huge portion of us in the 'red' states are thinking.
I think you all would probably be surprised to find Mr. Rohrbough's opinions are extremely common here in 'middle' America.
Also, I wanted to point out that I have noticed just how intolerant many on the left are being here. I guess they are tolerant of all views except conservative, or Christian. - Reply to this comment
- Katie, Poor choice of words. Freespeech! While you infer that you are for it, your poorly worded comment is unforgivable. What Hogwash!

- Why am I not surprised that the "Affable Eva Braun" would decide to use a term like "repugnant" in her description of how some (most likely of her political ilk) would describe the viewpoint of an honest and honorable man, whose only crime was to speak the truth?
Free Speech? Perhaps it's not as free as you think. I wonder if Ms. Couric will permit any future commentary from people who do not subscribe to the lib/dem/soc/commie mantra... - Reply to this comment
- Thanks Katie. I watched O'Reilly tonight and was diappointed that he took a protion of your blog, misinterpreted it, and was inaccurate. I like O"Reilly, but that was lame. Thanks for the Free Speech segment. I like you better at CBS :)

- Katie,
You are very courageous to letting the person delivers his FreeSpeech last Monday night. In fact, I was shocked to hear what he said in your program. He is a true patriotic American. He doesn't want more innocent children to be killed in schools (like his son who was killed in Columbine). He mentioned several reasons which might have caused the merciless killings. They are his reasons. I wonder why people were angry (as you said last night) about. It is free speech, right! I just hope that you are not going to be affected by their angry words.
Thank you. - Reply to this comment
- Hello Katie & Co.,
Speaking of free speech in regard to terrorism, I wanted to ask if you or your assistants have watched the video "911 Mysteries" (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6708190071483512003&pr=goog-sl)? It's a bit long (1 hr 30 min) but worth watching.
I have to ask why none of this has been reported on public news stations? Honestly, I already know why- (I mean our media is primarily owned by one corporation that spits out sound-bites dispersed as news on all of the major networks) but I keep hoping that it will change. That honest people will take a stand on air- actually speak without reading monitors. And honestly, I already know this post will most likely be pulled from the public blog, but I keep hoping that now that a woman is in a powerful position within the media conglomerate (you, Katie)- things will change.
So I'm putting aside my doubts and am posting this link because I believe this video should be openly discussed. I hope you do, too.
Thank you and congratulations on your promotion!

- I would like to personally thank CBS for airing a statement that is obviously not politically correct. I've sent e-mails to you before when I was offended by a show you aired, and now I'm obligated to send you kudos. As much as some of your viewers shudder at the thought of us "right winged conservatives," there are a lot of us out there, and we watch, or choose not to watch, TV- including commercials. I believe it is becoming more and more evident that that our numbers are strong and are demanding to be heard. Take note, CBS and all you business folk who are reading these comments, a Christian's main focus in this world is not of material nature, but we do live in your city, and we do purchase your products. I for one will begin watching CBS again, along with their commercials.

- Dear Katie
I have not watched CBS in nearly 10 years due to the liberal views of Mr Rather. I decided to see what you had to offer and have been a regular since your first day,
The free spech opportunity you gave this Monday was nothing less than the truth spoken from the heart of a man who has known the sorrow coming from our liberal ideals. I sincerely hope you continue to report the truth in an unbiased way - Reply to this comment
- What is it exactly, that one would find "repugnant" about this particular gentlemens commentary??
If you need an example to weigh it against, try looking to your own comments if youre having difficulty, Moonbats bringing the nation down since 1968. - Reply to this comment
- Dear Katie
I basically have given up on watching CBS because of Liberal views however I was watching briefly when the "free speech" segment came on monday and what a breath of fresh air it was to hear. George Bush did not win by accident there was a sea of red states. However I live in a blue state but there is still red in the blue states we're just out numbered. From the negative response that came in it would seem that the tolerant is only tolerant as long as everyone agrees with their views. - Reply to this comment
- Ms. Couric,
Your approach to this free speech segment has it all wrong. Your method of choosing guests reminds me of throwing slop against a wall and calling it art. You could make a compelling argument that violence in the schools is the result of moral decay. But your job is to select a resonsible person to voice that point of view. The father of the late Columbine student was not that voice. Your job is to exercise news judgment. Instead, you abbrogate that duty by 1) running this segment at all because it displaces real news we might get to hear and 2)picking handy fringe thinkers who represent fuzzy thinking. If you want to defend free speech, select features and participants who are worth defending.

- That is why this segment is called free speech.
To give people the opportunity to speak their mind on a subject. Whether we agree or disagree with what they say...they do have a right to say it. That is what AMerica is all about. - Reply to this comment
