- As an individual generally disappointed with television and television news, I was delighted to see Ms. Couric return to the "news desk" with her wit, charm, and experience in tow.
Best thing thats happened to CBS since Bob Keeshan and Walter Cronkite (and with those two names mentioned Katie knows she's in good company).
Good Luck Katie! - Reply to this comment
- Katie, GREAT JOB! You have won me away from NBC news on your first night. You have brought depth and honesty combined with balance and a sense of true passion and compassion for topics of the evening. Reporting on Mr. Bush's terrorist speech with Thomas Friedman following immediately provided real insight into a complex topic, thus diffusing the "sound-bite" message the politicians have learned to manipulate to their advandtage in recent years.
Thank you. I hope to be seeing much more intelligent and informative coverage as the mid-term elections approach. - Reply to this comment
- All Americans have something to say. Tonights FreeSpeech subject was on Mother's, who cross our borders illegally, to earn money to feed their children. The solution presented was that we help these countries create new jobs. Let us not forget the thousands of American children that are hungry and ill, locked in while their Mothers try to find work to feed them.
When my children were in high school, school clubs raised money thoughout the year. At Christmas the student, divided into groups, were assigned a needy family. When my son returned his first comment was that it made his heart feel good to be able to help. The family his group was assigned was a single Mother of 3. Cardboard on the windows covered broken glass, the house was cold. The Mother was making soup with a soup bone, 1 carrot and a stalk of celery. The students gave the Mother groceries - she sat down and cried. On gift the youngest child, a boy, received was a set of Trucks. His older sister, crying to hard to open her gifts, said her brother never had a truck before, he used rocks as his trucks. The Christmas tree was a tree branch with newspaper decoration. This was just one American family in need, there are thousands.
Charity to all is a good. Does Charity begin at home? Should Charity begin at home? Let us not forgot the American children, and Mothers, in need. Are they not news worthy to report? If we cannot help the hungry families in our country, should we help others first? - Reply to this comment
