It was a great show. Have never watched CBS news till tonight. You keep up the good work and I will be watching every night. I loved the way it was formated.

Your comment about closing statement could just be, " See you later and goodnight" , just keep it simple.

Thanks again and Good Luck,

Wayne

I found this to be quite disturbing. What I saw was not the evening news. I turn on the news to get "Just the Facts, Jack." Instead, we get the opinions of some unknown individual.

If I want deeper insight, I will watch another news show like 60 minutes.

The segment "Free Speech" is completely unnecessary and a waste of time. Why not a longer segment on international issues?

Couric seems like she has made it her mission to educate us. How arrogant.

I enjoyed Bob Schieffer immensely. You should have left him there.

You have lost me as a viewer.

Katie,
I am so proud of you, my sister. I feel as though I have known you all of my life and I am so proud of you. You were 'magnificent' today to say the least. Maybe we have a chance to break bread together one day. Love you much!!! Keep it up girl> Gwen

I had the good opportunity to be an intern at NBC-4 Washington several years ago, and position myself for a place in the news business. It was a rare opportunity for a poor black boy from Alabama. As, I contemplate history changing and the people who have done it - you Ms. Couric have found a place. I watched the Today show and had no doubt that your ability to adapt would carry you well in this new position. It gives hope to those of us that one day, God willing, will be able to have a position of such great responsibility. Your job today was impeccable and I give you the much deserved "props" you are due. I will continue to watch and know that the "gravitas" don't have to always be anatomically assigned.

Bravo! You have no doubtably convinced thousands of viewers that you can make the transition from morning host to evening anchor.

Your anchor is raised and your ship has sailed! Thank you for having the courage to do so. It is to all our benefits.

Katie,

I have watched CBS my entire adult life-- I watch for the daily news not a magazine. If you are indeed the managing editor, please, more real news. The opinion/special interest pieces (at least 3 tonight) belong on a magazine-- Sunday Morning for instance. Very disappointing. I'll be watching the rest of this week hoping things inprove.

NOTE: Friedman is very interesting, but his opinions are not news-- they belong in a magazine format-- ditto with the Speak Freely segment-- and snapshots?!?! Please-- this is not a morning infotainment show.

Spectacular idea, Miss Couric.
That line deserves a place in the quote books.

Tonight's show was good. Nice interview.

Great work, Katie. Excellent first broadcast. I have never been an Evening News watcher (on any network) but you've just turned me into one. Great job!
