- Katie,
You didn't really write that blog!
You didn't really "google" the word blog, either!
It just doesn't add up.
That's no way to earn credibility.
I'll be watching from down heere!

- This morning you said you thought news should not be delivered with "gravitas". I'm sorry, but the evening news is important and should be considered substantive, weighty, and delivered with a serious or dignified demeanor. I don't want or need evening news, that is delivered in a cheerful, lighthearted, chatty, party type atmosphere.
In addition, I see that you intend to have Bill Clinton, George Bush, Rudy Giuliani, and Walter Cronkite on as guest speakers. I have to ask. They are perfectly logical and reasonable choices for certain situations, but are they taking the place of actual news stories? Is so, I believe we can dispense with their presence...
And what's with this Rush Limbaugh and Bill Maher business? They are not politicians. They are not dignitaries. They are radio and tv entertainers. Why in the world would you have either one of them on the evening news? WHY?

- Katie,
I don't have to wish you luck, your great. I went to work late once in awhile when my husband would leave the TV on, because I loved you and Matt. When I found out you were going to nightly news, I was so happy because I will be able to watch it. Katie your such an inspiration to women and family. Keep up the great job you do and don't change for anyone. Being you is what makes YOU a great person.

- We have waited for this day all summer long. Katie, you are bright, articulate and fun and we look forward to your first telecast on the CBS Evening News this evening. You will do good, and we are so glad to see you everyday (well, almost everyday) again.

- THIS ISINT AN ATTACK OF HER INTELLECT...SHE WAS GREAT FOT THE TODAY SHOW..I LIKED HER THERE.. NICE AND FLUFFY IN THE MORNING..ON A SHOW LIKE THAT SHE IS PERFECT..IM NOT OPPOSED TO A WOMAN ANCHOR EITHER JUST OPPOSED TO THIS PERTICULAR CHOICE ,,
WE NEED A HARD HITTING REPORTER SHE IS MORE OF A FLUFF ARTIST I JUST CANT TAKE HER SERIOUSLY AS A NEWS ANCHOR - Reply to this comment
- Katie...all the best! you should be admired for having the courage to jump from your comfortable morning show to this very challenging new venture. You will tackle this challenge with the same confidence, competence, and energy that made you such a pleasure to watch and listen to every morning on the Today Show. Those who are abandoning CBS because of your "perky, cheerleader personality" and "lack of gravitas" are doing themselves a disservice and selling you short...my prediction is they will be coming back soon to see what all the "noise" is about on the CBS Evening News!
Go get em! Katie! - Reply to this comment
- blech! if i have to see one more person rip on katie as if she had a quarter of a brain, i will scream.
yes, she is a very cheerful, upbeat person, but people are capable of changing their demeanor in different situations. besides, who ever said that only crotchety old white men could deliver "serious" news? please please please move into the 21st century. - Reply to this comment

Good Luck and Best wishes on your first night on CBS!! I will stop by daily on Couric & CO.
Much Love,

- I have waited for this moment ever since the summer, and I know-with gut feeling- that Katie will do an absolutely splendid job with the CBS Evening News and will help CBS begin #1 in the evening news ratings. Go Katie!

- I AGREE KATIE IS TOO SOFT FOR A HARD HITTING NEWS PROGRAM...I DONT HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST HER PERSONALLY BUT I DONT WANT THE FLUFFY EVENING NEWS ,,,..SHE IS NO DAN RATHER ...AFTER 30 YEARS OF LOYAL VIEWING I GUES ITS TIME TO SWITCH TO NBC NEWS

- Uh, I guess if we're talking about being forced to wear a bra in the 7th grade, 'hard news' is going the way of the dodo. I can always turn to the internet or to Gibson over at ABC.
Give me a break. I can't imagine Walter Cronkite talking about wearing a cup to football practice. And I didn't think CBS could get any lower than Dan Rather's sweaters and 'Courage' signoff.
BUT.. if that's the direction you're going in, let's see some of that famous KC leg and heck, show us the bra as well!
Pathetic. - Reply to this comment

- Just wanted to say thanks for the great job you've done so far with everything Katie. I'll miss seeing Bob every night, but I'm glad that you're replacing him. I'll definitely be watching you and looking forward to your more personal approach to the news.

- I applaud Katie's choice to take on her new role with CBS News. She will succeed, as she did on the Today show or any endeavor that she chooses.
Katie is child of America. She grew up with us and 'we' with her - and that hair! Her "down-to-earth" personality is wonderful and helps us to identify with her, but that's not what will sustain our lasting relationship with her.
As the new chapter begins, so does our relationship with Katie. We can only "wait and see" as more of her personality is unveiled - I'm sure that is what will keep us tuned in.
After all, this isn't the Today show anymore.
Here's to new chapters ~
