Welcome to the evening news Katie. I haven't sat down to watch the evening news in a long time - only watched it tonight because I wanted to support you, a woman in the anchor chair. I'll sit down again tomorrow night because your evening news taught me something (Afghanistan), empowered me (Making Memories), and made me think (Free Speech). Thank you.

I'm not sure about my memory of my 25 year old civics class but the last time I checked, Freedom of Speech is a RIGHT !!!!! Not a privledge of citizens of these United States. How can she screw that one up ? I'm going to give the new format a chance but I have to be honest, Ms Couric's previous left leaning is certainly going to come to the forefront on a daily basis. I'm so looking forward to the mid-term elections. Will Katie be openly endorsing the left wing slate or just from an editorial stand point ?

I almost refused to watch Katie due to my thinking that she would just be too "cutsie " for the evening news BUT I'm glad I was wrong!!!!!

I haven't watched the evening news in over 15 years - and tonight I really enjoyed !!! It was refreshing and the free speech segment was my favorite. It will be nice to hear from "regular people".
Good job Katie - keep it up!

It's a first. Katie and the changes have compelled me to switch and more importantly watch the evening news again. Fabulous job on all counts. Exceeded my expectations. I'm looking forward to the sign off contest too.

I ignored my own advice and out of curiosity I tuned in. While I think Katie is an interesting person, I didn't see anything special. What I did see was the usual left leaning type of reporting that Dan Rather and Katie have demonstrated in the past. I'm not Republican or Democrat, just feed up.

Katie- excellent broadcast and a pleasure to see your innovative segments. You're going to blow the rest of the network anchors off the screen. Good luck and looking forward to more.
