Comments on: More Bogus Obama Donors Surface
Donations Made Between July and Early August
- Responding to jsjcvg:
You mention that it is "useless to try and engage in honest and rational conversation about anything with MCain/Palin supporters." I have had that experience. Unfortunately, I have had a similar experience with some Obama supporters. Both sides seem intransigent. That devisiveness is depressing to many of us trying desperately to decide which (if either) is a candidate who may lead us well in these troubling times.
After you deride the lack of honest debate by the McCain supporters you blithely state: "The real reason the majority of whites are not voting for him (Obama) is because he is Black. Period."
Your attitude is insulting in the extreme. We all know there are racists out there, but the constant accusations that if you oppose Obama then you are likely a racist is trite and tiresome. I see it over and over in comments by liberal pundits and internet bloggers. That tactic is not condusive to open and honest debate which you claim to favor. Indeed the apparant contempt it shows for many Americans leads creedence to the argument that the Obama campaign is elitist.
It appears you favor open and honest debate for so long as I agree with you. Otherwise, like the majority of white America (according to you), I must be a racist.
As I struggle to decide for whom to vote, I am pushed away from considering Obama ever time I am told I must vote for him or I am a racist. If you want my vote, earn it on the issues - not by threats. - Reply to this comment
- This is not a story. It is Republican talking points.
WHY DOESN''T CBS COVER THE ISSUES?
Wow, $7,500 dollars in so-called bogus checks? How much was this STORY worth to the Republican campaign?
How much did Cindy McCain pay for her dress at the RNC? $300,000! That is a hell of a lot more zeros. There must be a zero or two deciding what to run on the cbsnews website. - Reply to this comment
- It is time to end this war and either bring our fighting forces home or focus them on the real enemies in Afghanistan.
I just read this over on armytimes.com
Here is a quote: "The nation%u2019s most prestigious group for Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans released a congressional scorecard on Tuesday that ranks Republican presidential candidate John McCain as having one of the worst voting records when it comes to supporting troops and veterans."
Here is the link:
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/10/military_vets_congress_reportcard_100708/
John McCain and Sarah Palin use NEGATIVE ATTACK ADS that say Senator Barack Obama voted "against veterans". That is not how the group "Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America" sees it. Does Sarah Palin want to challenge THEIR patriotism as well?
"Sooner or later, people are going to figure out if all you run is negative attack ads you don''t have much of a vision for the future or you''re not ready to articulate it." [John McCain - 2/21/2000] - Reply to this comment
- They are fake names because they were donations by Republicans who didn''t want anyone to know they were supporting Obama.

Naw. They just return the money. This is bound to happen when you get hundreds of millions of dollars in donations. It''s the downside of complete public finding. They have to weed them out and refund them. Campaign finance laws allow for this. As long as bogus donors have their money returned, there''s no wrong done. At least you, the taxpayer, didn''t have to kick in, right? - Reply to this comment

How the hell to you think we get natural gas fueling our homes?
Posted by OneWayRight at 03:17 PM : Oct 07, 2008
======================
Drilling is a part of the solution, but not the whole solution (certainly not worthy as the centerpiece of an energy plan). We already get most of our natural gas from inside the US. It is oil that is the bigger problem. The "drill, drill, drill" chant was not referring to natural gas. Drilling is fine, but the centerpiece of the plan should be a race to develop new fuels that are renewable. The "drill, drill, drill" chant tells me to expect more of the same. It is time to move away from fossil-based fuels (actually it is way past time). - Reply to this comment
- Why it is useless to try and engage in honest and rational conversation about anything with MCain/Palin supporters:
One upon a time a new intern came to a psychiatric hopsital. While going on rounds with the chief of staff, the new doctor pointed to a patient who was staring out of a window and muttering softly "Oh no. Oh no. Oh no."
"What''s wrong with him?", the new doctor asked.
"That''s Jim and he thinks that he is dead.", said the chief of staff.
"And what have you tried to do to convince him that he''s not dead"?
"Everything posible."
"Well, I will try something, that I''m sure will work."
"Go ahead."
The new doctor goes over to Jim, grabs his finger and pricks it with a pin. "See that red stuff Jim? What is that?"
"Blood."
"Well, there you go Jim. Now what does that mean?"
"DEAD PEOPLE BLEED!"
No matter how many lies are debunked about Obama,---the one about him being Muslim, or Anti-American or friends with terrorists---McPain people are sticking to their guns. (Literally) The real reason the majority of whites are not voting for him is because he is Black. Period. So no matter what the truth is, for example, Palin''s husband''s affilation with a domestic terrorist group...it is useless to show it to them! By the way, Jim is a Republican. - Reply to this comment
- More on Palin''s lies:
With Princess Palin accusing Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists," and trying to revive the Rev. Wright scandal (despite having preacher issues of her own), it looks like everything is fair game in the last four weeks of this election.
And "everything" includes Trig.
Sarah Palin has not released her medical records. The circumstances of Palin''s "secret" pregnancy and Trig''s around-the-world birth are bizarre in the extreme.
At the hospital where Princess Palin claims Trig was born in April, Trig isn''t on the list.

And check this out: when she ran for mayor of Wasilla, Palin demanded that her opponent release his marriage certificate. She wanted him to prove that he was actually married to his wife -- because, his wife used her maiden not, not her husband''s last name. - Reply to this comment

- I would really like to know who the people leading the "drill, drill, drill" chant were at the Republican convention. It hard to believe there are more then a handful of US citizens dumb enough to think the solution to the energy crisis is to find more oil. I have to believe the lobbyists were leading that chant (it was sad).

- Obama just needs to return the $$$$$
No big Deal the Republicans have gotten Bogus donations before.
Lets talk about something that matters like Paris Hilton ! - Reply to this comment
- Did you morons miss the part about the 50,000 that Mccain took and then had to refund??? Come on people, I hate mccain but this is a non story on both sides. People give money and when the campaigns get around to investigating, if found to be not legit they return the money. It happens all the time on both sides.

- Wow, SEVEN thousand whole dollars!! Is that the same as Seven houses? Or eight? Or nine? Actually, mccain has 28 houses, but those are all speculation, and "investment".
Obama? Has ONE house, ONE car, went to ONE university. Palin went to THREE and switched SIX times between them. I guess she got dumped six times by dudes. - Reply to this comment
